At the Prison Book Program we read inmates letters, select books within prison guidelines, and ship them out. For free.

Prison Book Program's Amazon Wish List 2019
Prison Book Program is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization in Quincy, Mass. We send free books to people in prison to improve their lives and to reduce the likelihood of their return to the prison system. This list includes special requests and books that are often requested but rarely donated. We accept used and new paperbacks.

The Prison Book Program is on hiatus now, but you may enjoy this artwork mailed in by Ernesto from behind bars. Last year I was among the 1,200 volunteers in Massachusetts who mailed books to almost 12,000 imprisoned people in the USA.
