Prison Dog "Names"
Realized I'm using the dogs' aliases but haven't posted their "names" so that ya'll can kinda get an idea of who is which dog. So a brief description (personality not colors/breed) is posted below. I still don't have a full list of inmates names and can't post real names anyway, so they'll mostly be referred to as "x dog's handler"
Baloo - one of our terminal dogs. He's sweet and finally opening up after his ordeal with whatever happened (literally not fully known) after he was seized and fostered with a different group than I work with
Pie - our lifer who is a fat boi. He's showing more energy and less fat as the weeks pass. He still has a ways to go (probably at least 20 or more lbs on a smaller dog frame) but we're excited to see who he turns into when he's healthy
Tortellini - our other terminally ill dog. She's a sweet heart and her handler is one of the most friendly guys I've met! He opened up pretty quickly and is always the first to notice if anything is odd with her behavior or health so we can track when it's her time.
Cake - This girl was very shut down when she arrived and scared of the world. Her handler literally laid down on the ground to make himself smaller when they met and now she is bright eyed and bushy tailed, so excited and happy to be here. We expect big things for her.
Mauve - Our crazy girl with so much dog! She's gonna be needing a high energy home but is so smart and willing to learn I anticipate that once her leash skills are better she'll be a great family dog in the future.
Gurgi - He's a funny guy who has his preferences and makes them clear, but never in a rude way. We haven't figured out if he'll do well with other dogs yet, he certainly tolerates them but isn't super keen to play either. But he loves his handler and people, so he should do well regardless. Bambi - This is one of our fence sitters. She's very shy and we're looking into possibly some behavior meds, as what we've done with her so far hasn't brought her out of her shell. She can't handle being away from her handler more than a minute or two, but she's extremely trusting of him. If she stays in, the rescue will sponsor her for life as well. Wishbone - This baby needs a little more work on socializing with people and dogs, but is so well mannered and polite that we think she'll do great! And she's very clear at signaling her discomfort, so we appreciate that. Molly - Our newest girl who might be a service candidate, she is young but has one of the most confident but empathetic demeanors we've seen in this program. We're gonna keep on eye on her, as one of our Tadsaw members has a dog ready to retire in the next few years so she'd be a good dog for that if her temperament doesn't shift too far in adolescence. Griffin - Our dog with the worst court case that can't be discussed, he's made friends with Pie and is going to help Pie shed some extra pounds while finding his own confidence and opening his heart to some love. He's scared of men, but is learning to trust all of our handlers. He's special needs, but we see a bright future in him.
