TW: Slight abortion mention.
Aaron Hollick and Prisha Bhatia didn’t plan on having a child. Though, when you’re seventeen years old and only three months into a relationship – you don’t necessarily think that far into the future. What once started off as a simple relationship ended in Aaron giving Prisha an ultimatum: “you terminate that baby, or we’re done.” Due to her religious beliefs, she knew she couldn’t have an abortion. Instead she hid her pregnancy from her family and friends, and planned to give the child up for adoption. Somehow, no one noticed. Somehow, Prisha carried the child to full term without anyone ever blinking an eye. And on May 6th, out came a beautiful baby girl. One that she couldn’t bare to hold knowing that she’d be shunned from her family had she decided to raise the baby girl.
Instead, Ashley Sterling held her in her arms and immediately fell in love. The adoption was a closed one, and all parties agreed to never be in contact with one another ever again. The baby girl, named Samaira (a nod at Prisha’s heritage), was a Sterling now. And that was all that mattered to Ashley and Jonathan.
Growing up with the Sterlings was incredibly easy. Both Jonathan and Ashley showered Samaira in love, and it was often that the young girl forgot that they weren’t her biological parents. They would often tease her, asking her if her skin color wasn’t enough of a give away. Everything was simple, and they were happy.
And then came Maxwell. One day as Samaira was fiddling with her Easy Bake Oven, Jonathan came home with a boy – a little bit older than her. He was covered in cuts and bruises and clearly, in Samaira’s mind, was way too skinny. Though her father told her to be mindful, she ran towards him quickly and took his hand. “Hi, I’m Samaira! I have some Hello Kitty band-aids and I’m making cookies in my oven right now. Do you want some?” While he was older than her, she felt this need deep in her chest to take care of him. Even then, she’d sensed something was wrong with him and all she wanted to do was make sure that he was happy, just like she was happy. Easily enough, he became her big brother and it was everything she could’ve asked for.
And then they were a family. Growing up in the spotlight never bothered Samaira, as most of the time Jonathan and Ashley made sure that it was never too in her face. While she knew that they were known in the world, she wanted to keep mostly to herself. Her small amount of friends and her family was all she needed. Instead of going out to parties in high school, she spent time at small gatherings with her friends and though they’d drink alcohol like everyone else, they’d keep to themselves. It was how she preferred it, even if it was completely opposite of her brother. He did convince her to go to parties every now and then, but Samaira only agreed to make sure that he was being safe.
After countless hours of binge-watching crime shows and crime documentaries, Samaira felt as if she found her calling. She knew that real life was nothing like media, but she still craved to know what was going on inside criminal’s minds. Why they did what she did. Deciding on which school to go to was easy – she’d follow Maxwell just about anywhere she went, as she was now known as 'his shadow’, always making sure he was okay (especially after the incident). Pacific State was now her home, and she felt content in her life. Though, really, she always had.
BABY, THERE'S NO OTHER SUPERSTAR
Sam dresses in what she deems as 'simple’. She keeps it to short leather skirts, a blouse or loose t-shirt on the top most days. On her feet, she’ll wear flats or a pair of comfortable all black sneakers. If she’s feeling more 'lazy’, which is most days, then she’ll opt for a pair of jean shorts due to California’s weather. Her dark hair is wavy and barely touches her shoulders.
YOU KNOW THAT I'LL BE YOUR PAPARAZZI
