Benzoyl peroxide is not something you want to be putting on your skin; it's what makes up bleach. The high concentration of benzoyl peroxide that makes up the Proactiv skin care range is unnecessary and bad for the skin. The reason that there are results from using this skin care range is not because its helped the acne, it's because the chemicals have bleached your skin so much it looks clearer. 

The marketing for Proactiv was terrible. They used celebrities such as Katy Perry and Justin Bieber to sell the range. What got me though, was the fact then when I googled their so called "acne", it was a small amount of perhaps 3-5 pimples. I'm not calling that acne. I think Proactiv's goal was to form a bond between celebrities and the common person about troublesome skin, which I can understand as this is quite and common and effective marketing technique. Proactiv Solution customer service is kind of a dick. I called 6 months ago to cancel my membership, and they kept trying to talk me out of it even though I was insisting that I didn't want it anymore, to the point that the woman I was talking to was threatening that my acne would come back and I'd be sorry. (I became a customer about 10 years ago and it turns out that my acne was a result of an undiagnosed thyroid problem that whole time, so no actually it wouldn't come back and using your product was camouflaging a symptom that had it not been hidden would have gotten a diagnosis much sooner, so I definitely want to stop using this product). She said she'd put my membership on hold, that way I'd stop getting shipments but if I wanted to again in the future I could just reactivate. Fine, I said because I was tired of insisting on canceling. Flash forward 6 months later and I see I've been charged $50. I call them up and they tell me my hold expired (wtf?) and that the shipment is on the way and can't be cancelled. That's some back handed shit right there. And the man I was talking to this time still tried to talk me into keeping my membership and getting the details about returning the shipment was like pulling teeth. No, I don't want a 20% discount on a product I've told you several times I do not want and was charged to me against my will, I want my money back and you know, maybe a little apology about what shysters you all are being. And it wasn't until I insisted on them paying for the return shipping that he said that is something they could do. This guy, and probably the procedure this guy was working under set by Proactiv, could not give a single shit about making things right for me.
