Kai opened his mouth, ready to make some sappy speech about training to protect the Green Ninja instead of becoming him…
…but then he saw the almost desperate way Lloyd and his father were clinging to each other.
If Lloyd was supposed to be the Green Ninja, then that meant he was gonna have to fight his dad.
So, instead of shooting his mouth off, Kai said, "Yeah, well, it was either the Fangblade we've been chasing this entire time, the one that would prove I was good enough to be the Green Ninja, or Lloyd."
He grinned easily. "Not really much of a choice, if you ask me."
As Lloyd beamed at him from Garmadon's arms, Kai caught the approving look Wu sent his way, and he was torn between elation and a roiling uneasiness in his gut. Elation because this meant his teacher was no longer disappointed in him…
…and uneasiness, because Kai was keeping something secret that, by all rights, everyone present had to know.
Watching Lloyd and Lord Garmadon hug each other tight, however, Kai couldn't bring himself to say anything that could ruin it.
