PROBABLY RAYMOND: TORONTO’S NEXT UP
Knowing Raymond in high school, you would have never guessed he was destined to be a rap star. Other than his involvement in drama and student council, he kept to himself and his crew.
Upon discovering Ray’s raps on social media, I knew the potential was there, he just needed good promotion.
Ray’s initial music consisted of a couple original songs and remixes of artists like Lupe Fiasco and Drake. He had also already released a couple lowkey mixtapes through BandCamp under the stage name “Chuck”.
The summer after Ray and I met, I helped him film a video for his song ‘Popular’ and managed him for a show. The same summer, he released hit songs that started to capture the attention of a larger fanbase than he once had.
Ray Ray was on his way.
Zimbabwe, California and Toronto-raised, Raymond rebranded himself 3 years ago as Probably Raymond and has recently started gaining the recognition he deserves.
Ray’s current music has been featured on hip hop blogs such as WhatTheHype and Made in Toronto.
Currently, with a few shows and a 2014 mixtape ”Last Message” (http://www.datpiff.com/Probably-Raymond-Last-Message-mixtape.710369.html) under his belt, Ray is working with a couple important producers out of Cali: Barry Emerica and Callahan.
Ray’s first studio album is in the works and is titled ‘Just Being Honest’. Be on the lookout for that, it’s coming very soon.
With the album on the way and new hit singles like “I’m Sorry” and “Autumn Leaves” garnering alot of playtime on SoundCloud, it is undeniable there is a big future ahead for Probably Raymond.
