That sneak I’m—
Han’s LAST words to his, lifelong BEST FRIEND Chewbacca were: You take up top, I go down below. And we’ll meet back here.
And while I get the down below double meaning, the rest of the sentence always BOTHERED me SO much since... really? Nothing more profound than that as farewell?
Only now:
Han gave his life in exchange for his son’s. So the SOLO who will, in fact, meet Chewie back here after going down below is BEN.
Mystery solved.
Wait a minute
Is Ben Solo —
A prince with hair as black as ebony, skin as white as snow, and lips as red as blood:
Who was manipulated by an old ugly witch wizard:
And the dark spell he’s under can be undone by (a hero’s) true love:
— Is he...:
Snow White?!
Yes. I guess he is.
“Rey has been tempted by the dark side in many different ways, and Ren has been tempted by the light.”
Chris Terrio
While star crossed lovers is a popular trope, it always rings false to me for reylo. Anakin and Padme were star crossed. In the end, they couldn’t be together.
Ben and Rey, canonically, have a unique force bond. They must fulfill their destiny together.
They’re star bound (lovers).
“My boy”
How dare.
Go get that fucker, Rey.
What if Palpy delivers his dramatic hoe act: “I have been every voice inside your head.”
And Ben Solo responds, strangely unfazed: “I know, bitch.” Before ending the raisins whole career.
Not to harp on about the Sun/Son/Ben symbolism...
But once again Ben Solo is backlit here with a burst of warm light that is completely out of place in a FO setting.
And now that we know this is a moment where he’s looking at Rey (his twin sun) it makes the “sun” imagery over his shoulder even more impactful.
Here is more sun disk symbolism (and the resistance symbol encircling Kylo?!)
And I love how here Rey’s light clothing and his dark invade each other’s space equally. To drive home the yin yang energy:
