What is there not to enjoy about this perfectly painful novel? NPOS shows the breaking of Dick Grayson in such a slow and thorough way that it's almost mind-boggling to comprehend that someone managed to write it. The angst hits hard, the smut is sexy, and just when you think the author is going to destroy Dick (and the readers) forever...well, the recovery is just as slow and thorough and amazing.

Genuinely one of the most heart-breaking fics I've read, in all the best ways. Blah does an amazing job of shaping Dick's warped POV, making it clear to the audience not only how horrible the situation is, but also how messed up the world is when Dick tries to justify it. It is dysfunctional and sad and FASCINATING as shit, and a true true joy to be able to read. The fact that it's gonna be a series is so exciting!!!

I've never read a fic like this. The utter genius of dosing Jason with fear toxin and trapping him in a coffin...I want to see inside the mind of the person who wrote this because it's fucking awesome. It's painful and fucking wonderfully written, and getting it from Roman's POV was so fun

What I really love about this fic is the premise as a whole and the way the characters are written. The love the whole set up of Dick getting caught by this character who kind of have this twisted motivation to save him. And the entire thing that it entails. Dick's headspace is just so well done and immersive. The way the author arranges the thoughts and timeskips just really highlights Dick's mental process. And the way he perceives and reacts to everything.

Tim is so blisteringly creepy, in such an understated way. Seeing Jason through his eyes really gives the reader a glimpse into his psychosis. Just take Tim’s passion for photography, blend in a little obsession and dial it up to eleven.
