My First Week Of Fashion School (again...)
As the title says, this past week was “my first week at fashion school” except that it was, but it wasn’t...I already knew some things so I was confident that I was going to be the best and what not, but oh boy was I wrong.
The first thing that was a big big change was that I started school at 7:00 am, when I was used to have my first class at 10, so yeah, big change; this means that I had to wake up at 5 so that I could be there on time and of course, it’s not pretty waking up that early.
Next thing was my confection classes, I used to have them 3 times a week, 2 hours a day, which at the time I thought it was a lot, but keeping in mind that out of the five days of the “school week” I only had 4, it really isn’t. Now I have 3 hours every single day, and this particular week my illustration teacher could’t come, so I had 5 hours a week.
My new school might not seem very modern, but what really matters is the quality of the teachers and the pressure they put in making everything perfect. I used to be in a school, that also didn´t have the best facilities (because it was literally a house that was accommodated to be a school), but the way that the headmistress carried herself, and the daughter of the headmistress (that I believe it was something of marketing) made it seem that they were up-to-date with fashion, which they were; but they weren’t the only ones.
This new school is also up-to-date, but they do not insist in showing it, they prefer that the work that the students do speak for the school and people that are two years ahead at the other school, can’t even imagine making things with the quality that this new school does.
Clearly this week really opened my eyes, and made me realize that I did the right decision in changing schools. I will continue to write about my new experiences in here and also sharing the new work that i do. Speak to you soon.
