Transformation is never a sterile, clean process. It is an act of destruction. Whoever wants to be born anew must first blow up the old foundation.
Svea Cristina Schlageters's work looks precisely there—into the hard phases of change and at everything we leave behind as rubble along the way. Those shreds, the burned edges, and the textured layers are no mere decoration; they are the harsh remains of a shed self.
Yet what remains of us when the old forms collapse? It is what we have thrown out into the world: what has been spoken, our actions, pure behavior. Every word, every irreversible deed, and every fragment of our conduct does not simply fade into empty space. They are the debris we leave behind—and exactly these remnants are the ones that suddenly reappear in entirely different transformations.
