I Made a Poem and at Least it Rhymes

During the day, this empty brain

Is filled with bliss, devoid of pain

But the nights come, it teeth full bared

And then I feel my soul ensnared

On very quiet nights, much like this

Desperately craving sleeps passionate kiss

But the thoughts intrude, the storms full brewed

Sweeps aside that once gleeful mood

And leaves instead visions of malice

Please oh God, won’t you take this chalice

Full of pain, regret, and tortured ghosts

I swear I’ll refrain from those empty boasts

That I tell myself when I’m awake

Just so I live without fear of a break

Down in my mind, the demons they whisper

And I can no longer hide, their words become crisper.
