Two doesn’t know what all this “swiping” business is about but he never advocates stealing and it doesn't matter which direction someone wants to steal it in.

           logan had been an introduction into the mutant world but even knowing the wolverine didn’t prepare steve for someone who could read his mind.  or, get into it.  he had no doubts the professor had every good intention but that didn’t mean the soldier liked his insecurities put on display.  whatever point trying to be made was momentarily blinded by an anger that had his jaw clenching.  nostrils flare ever so slightly.  fingers curl loosely before stretching back out again.  maybe this had nothing to do with his abilities and years of pain on his face.  no way to know unless he asked and steve didn’t feel like walking through that door quite yet.

          his youth was a touchy subject even all these years later.  sometimes he realized it and sometimes he didn’t until it was too late.  “ with all due respect, sir, what i see in the mirror doesn’t affect how i go about performing my duties. “  he’d spent years fighting those images, which was difficult to do given what even the doctors said about all his health conditions.  steve fought tooth and nail to make sure he was holding up his end of the fight and then some so no one else got hurt in the process.  he’d always make sure no one had to check on him.  most importantly, he would always get back up.  no matter what.  “ i can handle the mission.  whatever it is. “

To those that knew him, it was perhaps no secret that The Doctor himself was someone who existed under an alias. His real name had been a topic of great debate, but the fact remained that no-one, not even his closest companions, knew the real nature of his identity for sure. It would undoubtedly be something that, when the time came, he would take to his grave.

However, he had also experienced those who had decided to change their persona for very different, very unjust motives - normally as an act of cowardice to evade rightful punishment for their disgraceful behaviour - and they had been the subject of his recent comments.

“Oh - I didn’t mean to cause any offence, dear chap! People decide to change themselves with the very best of intentions in mind, there’s no doubting that. I was more referring to those who do it for all the wrong reasons - you know, criminals and the like. Yes, I’ve had my fair share of altercations over the years. Can’t say I have much respect for those who decide to hide behind a false name instead of taking responsibility for their actions, can you?”

“No?” she replied as she hid the incriminating mug behind her bag. For a former infiltrator she could end up being a pretty terrible liar; she hadn’t even wiped away the cocoa moustache.

Scott’s fingers hovered over the black knight on the board, red eyes studying his opponent as he did so. It was a fool’s errand to play games with a telepath, much less gauge reactions from one. Although sometimes it worked with Jean: sweet, expressive Jeannie could never hide from him. Charles, on the other hand, could be a smug bastard. And that was all Scott got. Grumbling under his breath, his hand retreated and reached for the whisky glass instead. The smoky flavour drowned out what was starting to taste like defeat. God he hates losing. Especially to Charles.

“Ya know- Warren swears up and down you cheat when you play.” Scott said, slumping back into the chair. The words were strung together, with a fond smile as he sipped on his drink.

It’s not just just Cecelia’s inexplicable talent for getting people to open up to her that puts her at the top of her class, although that helps. She does in fact put in the work. Cee is three hours early for their interview, sitting at the back of the lecture hall, silently taking notes on her iPad (although she uses the tablet, she writes everything down by hand, feeling she absorbs more when she physically writes it). By the time the lecture us finished, she has extensive notes. Not just on what was said, but how the class reacted, what language the professor used, her first impressions of the man himself. She remains in her seat until half the class has left, having to wait longer than usual as so many students pause to speak with the professor; he seems to be a well liked man. She wonder how many of the girls have genuine questions for him though. 

“Professor Xavier,” she begins finally, making her way down the steps, hand extended. “I’m Cecelia Holmes, I’m really hoping you got my email and can make some time for me?”
