i super do not have time rn, but i'm invested in the ot3 thanks to you and gyzym and kinda want to watch leverage, but i like don't really know how the show is set up/what it's about aside from the three of them???? :|
yaaaassssssss SUCCUMB. so the show is, at it’s core, a kind of procedural. think like, the good early seasons of spn - there is a new bad guy every episode that the crew has to take down at the request of someone who has been victimized in someway by this bad person - but there is also an overarching bad guy or dramatic plot that comes to a head at the end of the season.
the crew is made up of nate, “the mastermind” who plans all of the cons, sophie, “the grifter” who does the majority of the face to face acting interactions with the marks, and then the ot3, hardison (”the hacker”), eliot (”the hitter”) and parker (”the thief”). the entire show is based on these five criminals (or as nate feels, HIM plus four criminals) coming together robin hood style to steal from/destroy the lives of/con money out of/reveal as terrible, selfish, manipulative people of various rich people. the only reason they do this is because nate brought them together for one con and they worked so perfectly as a team that none of them wanted to stop working together. (I’M SERIOUS THEY WERE LIKE EAGER PUPPIES despite being badass criminals!!!)
95% of their marks are old rich white dudes who own companies that are fucking over working class people’s lives and the crew help the little people. over time, they grow into a found family and care more and more about each other and about the work that they do - but they are all HILARIOUS and WONDERFUL and ridiculously awkward and totally supportive and in love with each other and you get everyone’s backstories and basically it’s my favorite show and i rewatch it ALL THE TIME.
the show is more than anything about the individual characters learning and growing and coming together to create a family - which all of them have lost or left behind at some point. it is tHE epitome of the found family trope and it is worth 110% of your time whenever you have time!!!!
