I kind of addressed it in the reblog lmao but like. Here are some more solid ideas!!
The protective streak from Hawkfrost. I ADORE the idea of him not only protecting her from the Dark Forest but also helping her manage her emotions and feelings towards Dovewing. Telling her of how he was compared to the great Brambleclaw or the vicious Tigerclaw and how much that impacted on him. How he was overshadowed by Mistyfoot even when he was deputy in her place because she'd been trapped by Twolegs and how deputyship was stripped from him as if she was naturally better than him. This comparison helping them to grow closer and trust one another with other emotions, of secrets. Hawkfrost confessing that his father has forced much of his actions and he regrets turning on his brother because Brambleclaw and Mothwing were, for much of his living life, the only cats he truly felt close to.
God the idea of like. Just. Hawkfrost genuinely feeling loved by someone who isn't his kin. Training her now not only for this battle (or perhaps even in spite of it) but so she's strong enough to take on any cat. Encouraging her. Learning of how she's turning spy (seriously how did he not overhear that in canon?) and covering it up from the others. If it gets found out, he says yes, that was his plan, it's to figure out the Clans' movements because they've already worked it out thanks to StarClan
