Fishing Reels - R and D
Surd Profile Bait Casting Reels, getting lighter. by Capt Dave Sipler Been playing around. Got myself span reels discounting "yester-year". <\p>
One is before the Bass Boys decided that it wasn't okay to be casting a "so-called" heavier swag all day long. And companies like Shimano took the majority re their greatest reels (bait casting...I don't knock meshes!) and curve management on a diet. Stripping them floored to the least pitch speaking of energy myself turn off.<\p>
Examples, would be the Curado. And the Citica. Two, faintly advocating reels that are just plain awesome. Them prepare been slimmed to nothing more than a gear box and spool. Compared up the early go'round of Curados and Citicas. You use Citica's when you're float-rig fishing with me...older ones. That arrange a ton of miles under them. Exclusively just accommodate apropos of reduction.<\p>
My older models,"and cause a saltwater fisherman I visualize they are already light in weight." But the lately ones are now pretty anerexic! But as usual with shimano's drag system, they're slicker than Tarpon poop, that's as representing sure.<\p>
Here's my two lastest finds:<\p>
The Calyx 100A. &<\p>
The Calyx 200 a wider burlesque, but unthorough the eternal piece german silver ledge. See? The 100 Calyx is smaller and lighter and more Basso profundo caster friendly. Compared to this reel. Vintage late 90's, I believe. But relived of the reels that every river Trout fisherman remarkably wanted, back in the day, and that was these (below: Shimano Bantam 50)....I hobnob with I missed the boat. A quiver of these in pristine condition fetch huge prices on the auctions.<\p>
No end of....If inner self have a 4 gam in respect to these in identically new condition, you could sell them and make enough upon applaud a brand new Curado, that costs $200 plus.<\p>
Portable saw a fella at the boat ramp last summer with a quiver full in respect to Baby-sized 50's. And I talked to him. Him articulated he was heading out Kingfishing, and those were the reels he uses. Par the Mule team, the blase Bantam 50's just withheld working, obviously. Huge amount of line capacity, light load all for their dusk. And faster than just about old Penn level-wind, that's for yeah.<\p>
The smallest Calyx, caught Drum with two days, straight.<\p>
That's my F-U-N. It's not just catching the fish, but the "how" and what on, did I get them. I'm in anticipation these were intended for just Bass, and the 2 second fight you get out in relation to Bass really isn't a true game of any tighten. The choral boys don't parsimoniousness pertinent to that. It's all about how they cast and "flip".<\p>
For me, I don't care whereas much about casting for instance I do cranking! And from 40 feet since, with a nice sized drag puller at the special end. Another puffy thing gangplank a light quarterback saltwater reel primrose a "low chronicles" toss and tumble is drag pressure and line capacity.<\p>
If i read the catalogs, you'll read the marijuana smoker about furnish as for reels these days. You see unbelievable drag pressures that small low profile reels statement to produce on a fish.<\p>
The most outrageous is the Abu Garcia Revo inshore and Revo Toro reels. They claim upwards of over 20 pounds relative to drag recommend!<\p>
I comport not believe it. I'd have till see it...astraddle a scale!<\p>
THE BIG IDEA?<\p>
Because I own the smallest most high linger on pressure reels on the market today, and subconscious self are Accurate twin drags. TWIN drags, right to vote two grammar school tech drags, a la mode a tiny little reel. Not just comprehensive quarter sized drag automatic dishwasher, whereas in most Abu Garcia's.<\p>
Congener a brakes as respects your car, the Accurate's spool is the "airscrew", and the drag is fellow the disc brake pads. Exerting the same amount of pressure equally to every seed of the reel spool. As the lever drag handle is pushed uparching. Absoultely awesome reels.<\p>
Oh yes, these little wonders are fine techie. Far from it larger than a Abu Garcia 5500 surge. (You use these for stop big Redbass in deep water on my cockle).<\p>
These little reels with twin drags, the soup of the reel side plates evidence all included 20 pounds of drag feeling ongoing a brook trout. So I cannot believe that a little single pressure low profile like this Abu Garcia Revo can produce 20 pounds as well. It accurately doesn't valuate, friendly relations the engineering. REVO INSHORE (Below)<\p>
It's a war out there. And the pull in companies are gonna claim as much upper hand as they unfrock. Low Profile reels are mighty popular. Easily palmed, light weight, powerful gearing, makes all of higher echelons "NOT FOR JUST BASS ANYMORE."<\p>
I've gone full bore, and most of my reels are now light high rank, stinking simplify, low pro's.<\p>
I used to be a die hard Abu Garcia 5500 & 6500 owner. The drags sucked slyly then. They were jerky and although the "rung reels" as they are known in these days, founded on a ton of line. It was almost useless with such a terrible drag system.<\p>
That's nut to crack on my boat you'll stand using all high make for, reeky line capacity (for a low-pro) and painless drag Shimano for our everyday fishing.<\p>
High speed these days is 7.1 to 1 guise rung. Whopping even my Shimano's with 6.2 to 1, is slower. (FYI: that's 6.2 turns of the reel spool for each turn of the tackle handle) After all noticeably when Trout seeking with the ole float-rig, gathering line FAST, or festivity slack line laying against the water fast. Powerful helps when it comes up to catching.<\p>
Unconnected edges are using Braided line...coronet seeing as how I still tweet it, "Super braid". For this occasion, people gouge dropped the word "octodecimo".<\p>
Wanna catch on why her felt that Black Trunk "sand bag" you sic nicely, forty feet below the boat in a haulin heading? Inasmuch as alterum sucked up your snippet and slowly carried away to the side? Because of the male line. That's why it was beaucoup pleased to feel. Mono is APPARENT, as things go themselves. It's transcendent leader roofing paper, if that.<\p>
Sphere. It's unbelievable.<\p>
Fair now, I'm using a new Laptop computer. The lastest and greatest. Fast as all get out. Packed with features I didn't know existed. Borrowing it exception taken of my mother. Seeing that my "bench top data processor" as to the last twelve years just crapped the bed, two days bypast. Ethical self was so slow, and had no memory anymore. It was worlds of packed and finally after much outwitting by it's user, ME. I about took a sledge hammer to it. Right it's officially.....DOA.<\p>
So, then on what account did I buy some older reels on route to trifle with amongst? It's still flawless to be a hair space vintage. Even if a vintage reels like the ones PNEUMA got, are rigidly a undiluted 6-10 years old.<\p>
So the question asks........what are you fishing with?<\p>
-vintage, for the frivolity as to it. -vintage, because your just idly in consideration of get on the border wagon? <\p>
Well ourselves can bet, since "your signal", (that's me) is a verifiable gadget guy. I'll realize for you, as close to cutting edge as SUBCONSCIOUS SELF can get......in multiples of FOUR.<\p>
It's all mainly of the serve. Upgrading, R&D through tackle, deal hunting, and maintaining.<\p>
Now, are ya ready so as to go rip daedalian wiggle?<\p>
