There is something amazing about a mechanical device that can be fully disassembled, cleaned,lubricated, and restored back to a fully operational state. This reel is 50 years old. It was pretty crusty and dirty. Now it performs and (mostly) looks like new.
These reels in particular have a reputation/following. But the amazing part is that the company (Abu Garcia from Sweden) has always been completely helpful to their customers. They have always included/provided a full schematic. Proper manuals. Parts are readily available from multiple outlets. These reels were built to last forever.
It has been such a satisfying journey of figuring it all out.
