Water. A truly fundamental part of life, on Earth at least. For every living thing on Earth relies on water, at least indirectly. The same cannot be said for any other substance, which is to say that water is directly linked to life itself. So, supposing one rid the Earth of the elixir on which all life relies, what would life become but obsolete? Tis why he who commands the water, commands the world, and all life it contains, and will contain. But water itself does not wish to be contained. It does not wish to be controlled, or commanded. It is unruly, bowing to nothing and no one, as though aware of the power it yields. The power to feed all life on Earth or remove it. Yes, water is the building block that all life stems from. Remove that building block, and watch life as it is known fall around it, unable to support itself without its foundation. Even the gods tremble before the substance that feeds consciousness, for if there is no life to worship the gods, who’s to say there are gods at all? Who’s to say that water itself is not a god of sorts, with the power to give life and take it away on a whim, without a care to the lives its actions impact? You can worship it if you wish, but do not expect a response for you will be sorely disappointed. Rather, respect it. Appreciate the power it has and pray that it shan’t decide to rob you of everything you hold dear. For if it does, it cannot be held accountable. It does not feel sympathetic or sorrowful, for every action has purpose, and such purpose cannot be denied nor prevented. Water is far more powerful than any god, for it cannot be denied. Water makes itself known to all life, unafraid. Unafraid, because it knows that without it, there would be nothing, for there would be no one to prove otherwise.
