Hello! I read the ask about the portrayal of gender in Shelby’s episode. When I watched it I thought that maybe the dad had gone to reconversion therapy and that’s why he was so obsessed with gay people and looking as basic as possible? I don’t think that’s actually what they wrote for him but he does present weirdly.

i really agree, and the reason why i think that is bc his little bible support group is helping someone named kyle who’s going into conversion therapy, and you hear the dad saying “give US faith to be what you intended” (rather than “give kyle”), which is EXACTLY what shelby says when she’s on the rock on the island in ep8. i think he’s a gay man who went thru conversion therapy, convinced himself it was a success, and now helps others

Your axe murderer AU also made me think of the Lizzie Borden massacre in wich Lizzie, the main suspect, was found alone in her house with the cadavers of both her parents who were killed with an axe. And just like Shelby, her dress was clean. Not saying you might solve a 200 years old mystery but your take WILL be studied 👀

I was already excited when I saw you talk about a possible axe murderer Shelby AU and wasn’t disappointed reading it! You always make the characters very realistic in their behavior, even in non-canon situations.

I have seen The Plateform and was very disappointed. The idea of representing different levels of society as a litteral ladder of privilege was very interesting and could have been the center of the plot if it had been a little more nuanced and subtle in it’s reveal. Plus the whole switch-around at random kind of goes against the message, as does the volontary admission of some of the participants. The social experiment aspect was predictable and did not bring anything in my opinion, same as the principal character who didn’t evolve at all during the movie. Did you like it? You usually have very informed opinions and I might have misunderstood it, also it has been a while 🤷🏼‍♀️

i need to rewatch it cuz i think i missed some important stuff the first time. also i’m gonna rewatch it in the original language cuz i didn’t know it was spanish so i watched it in german whoops. but i mostly agree with you i think. i did really like it and i think the concept was a+ but it was still confusing haha. and the point of all the religious imagery was confusing too
