kent is very upset about it. he is convinced they will eventually get along, but so far kit is very jealous and purrs is very adventurous and he annoys her at every possible opportunity. kent probably complains about it to bitty during their calls and fusses over them.

Bitty wants to get Jeff something awesome, something he’d really like. The problem is that he’s... not quite sure what that might be, and he doesn’t want to ask Kent for help. He remembers Jeff liked Star Wars, so maybe he could find a cool Star Wars thing? But then -- he’s not sure what about Star Wars Jeff liked.
He might decide to just make an entire Christmas basket of baked goods that are all diabetes-friendly. It seems like a challenge, right? And Jeff would know he put effort into it. Right?
Maybe he should learn to knit..........

30. “How long have you been standing there?”
“ -- total eclipse of the heart!” Jeff tilted his head back under the water, rinsing the shampoo out of his hair as he sang. He was the last one in the showers, anyway, so there was no one to annoy with his shitty singing. Shutting the water off, he grabbed a towel and stepped out, coming face to face with Kent Parson.
Jeff’s face heated. “Uh – how long have you been standing there?” he asked.
“Long enough,” said Kent. He folded his arms over his chest. “Bonnie Tyler? Seriously?”
“It’s better than Britney Spears,” Jeff said, stepping around Kent.
“Hey!” Kent followed him. “You leave Britney out of this!”
“Everyone heard your rendition of Toxic the other day, so don’t even try to pretend like you don’t know where I’m coming from,” Jeff said. He rubbed at his skin with the towel. “What the hell are you still doing here?”
“Oh, well -- ” said Kent, “I was waiting for you.” He rubbed the back of his neck, glancing away when Jeff looked up at him.

Chris was definitely his dad’s little hockey son and he’s so proud of him. Jeff is not as good at hockey as Chris is.
Okay. Okay, but! In Hummingbird Heartbeat, the scene when Bitty tells Kent that he loves him. Just so... simple. And like. I had to wonder if it really was the first time they said it. AND IT WAS. There was no like big thing about it. He said it so naturally. And Kent blushed and said it back. And it was just... so them. Like, I kinda wish they were in the same room, but at least they could see each other's faces. And Kent didn't make a big thing about it after the fact. THEY JUST LOVE EACH OTHE

I think, y’know. They both loved each other for a while before they said it. And I think we saw a couple of times when Kent almost said it but then changed his mind.
I'm gonna leave you like a bajillion of these things because there are so many lines in Hummingbird Heartbeat that I adore. But, one that always gets to me is: “I have to go,” Sweetie said, interrupting him suddenly. His voice sounded… soft. Sad. AND THEN Bitty is just like... Tired. Like... HE DOESN'T KNOW. OH MY GOD, BITY DOESN'T KNOW. And it's just so sad because he just tore Sweetie down to shreds. And because he was so close. /me drags hands down face. AND THEN THE LETTER IN THE NEXT CHAPT

Actually I’m super glad, because I wanted that scene to feel just like that.
