Program Associate, Catalyst Foundation
Location: New York, NY
The program associate provides broad ranging support to a small team at this young organization. The program associate offers substantive and technical expertise on the Catalyst Foundation’s diverse portfolio of grants and helps to manage a number of cross-cutting initiatives, including the Scholarship Program and communications and outreach efforts. The program associate also provides administrative support across Catalyst programs and activities.
Duties:
• Provide cross-cutting support to the Catalyst Team’s Senior Program Officers on all Catalyst programming, including research, writing, and administrative duties; • Manage the Catalyst Scholarship Program, including fielding individual inquiries, monitoring and reviewing applications, scheduling and conducting interviews, preparing scholarship agreements, executing payments, and monitoring recipients’ performance; • Support grantee management, including drafting grant agreements, reviewing grantee inputs such as monitoring and evaluation plans and interim and final reports, and arranging and participating in monitoring calls and/or meetings; • Contribute to and format board materials on a triannual basis, function as primary user of board management software, and serve as note-taker during official board meetings; • Track, and attend when possible, key events and conferences in the international education and development space, and events held locally through academic institutions and NGOs; • Conduct research as requested, including on emerging trends in the field and possible partner organizations of interest; • Monitor and manage general email account and filter incoming inquiries; • Maintain and update website, including writing and curating new content for the Catalyst blog, and assisting with social media; • Organize and maintain grantee files, including agreements and correspondence in preparation for audit process.
Required Qualifications: • B.A. minimum in a relevant field (public administration, education, international development/relations, regional studies, etc.), plus at least one year of professional experience; • Strong writing and editing skills and effective professional communications abilities; • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work cooperatively and flexibly with a small team in a dynamic environment; • Ability to work independently, be proactive, suggest initiatives; • English writing and speaking fluency; • Ability to travel internationally, as needed; • Good sense of humor.
Preferred Qualifications • M.A. degree in relevant field; • Two or more years of professional experience, including comfort with Microsoft Office Suite; • Knowledge of and experience in international education sector, especially in supporting refugees and marginalized populations or programming in conflict and post-conflict settings; • Understanding of NGO operations and donor-grantee relationships; • Experience working and/or living abroad and an understanding of how to collaborate with individuals of different cultures and identities; • Language skills, including Arabic, are desirable.
