I've been trying to program the Game of Life. It's pretty much a basic idea of cell life and death. It's not a difficult program, but the assignment is to write it in C, which is a language that I'm only halfway decent at, so it's been taking a while.
I started working on the program on Saturday, and right away I had an idea how to do the main check. The only problem was that I couldn't figure out how to implement my logic.
Since Sunday, I've been procrastinating on continuing the program because I just couldn't figure out how to make my idea work.
Finally about half an hour ago, I was in the shower not really thinking about anything, when it came together. I understood exactly how I needed to write the code to make it do what I want it to do.
This was a super proud moment for me because I did it alone. I knew what I wanted to do, and I gave it time, and I didn't rely on anyone else. It makes me hopeful that this could be a future trend. When I get stuck on a problem, I usually turn to my dad for help. And eve though he's really just there for moral support because I usually get to the solution myself, I feel like I use him as a crutch.
But now that I've finished typing out the code, time to sleep. Trying to make C code compile takes more mental strength than I have right now. Making it run is even worse.
