Progress Bars Reimagined
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 🫣
Here's the scoop:
𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀!
Even if they're not always perfectly accurate, they assure you that something's happening behind the scenes.
This intervention is all about 𝗗𝗼𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱, which says that a computer's response time should be under 𝟰𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘀 for the best user experience.
Before, 2000 milliseconds (2 seconds) was the standard.
Think about it. If an app responds only after two seconds, would you still stay on the app or do you switch to another app? Don’t lie. 😅
So, the next time you see a progress bar, know that it's working hard to keep you engaged.
Developers are not prioritizing accurate progress bars because they exert more effort in more important tasks, like making the app run even smoother in the background.
Loading bar.
Franpa may have been overgeneralizing when he said old games had clear progress indicators for their loading screens and new games only have little animations for theirs but that did make me consider how to get one in Project Special K.
It's not much, but it is.
Pet Peeve #1
Today's Pet Peeve
Today’s pet peeve is programs that scan your computer for one purpose or another – like your antivirus program or a disk utility program. Very few of them tell you how long it’s going to take and that is what peeves me.
I’m left sitting here wondering how long it’s going to take. Is it going to be 2 minutes or 20 minutes? Do I have time to start (or finish) something else while I’m waiting?…

The spinning wheels, rotating egg timers and moving progress bars we regularly see on our screens when using our electronic devices are often misleading. Rather than offering an accurate representation of work being done, they are more often than not simply there to give the impression that something is happening behind the scenes. They provide us with a sense that we are not waiting in vain for something to happen... These all provide a sense that “work” is being done even though what is actually happening behind the scenes of a website is fairly abstract to most people. Buell’s research shows that customers like this kind of openness – something he calls “operational transparency”. Consumers put a higher value on the results from websites that show what they are doing, than ones that remain opaque, regardless of whether the results are in fact better.
I want to use your progress bars widget. However, I can't find the
and areas. I happen to be using a slightly customized version of an old theme that was probably more popular five years ago; are the <head> and <style> instructions meant to apply to newer themes?
Hey! Thank you for wanting to use my widget ^^ I just looked at your source code real quick and you do have a
and a tag, only your theme add something behind them, so for your theme it’s <pre><head prefix="og: http://ogp.me/ns# fb: http://ogp.me/<strike>ns/fb# blog: http://ogp.me/ns/blog#"><p>and <pre><style type="text/css"><p>Hope this helped! If you have any more questions, please feel free to send me another message ^^
Admin: So i decided to go back onto my drawing laptop today
Made these for DA and i like how well they turned out that i wanted to share them here :D
If you’re not sure what they are, they’re Progress Bars. Something people use on DA to show people how far they’ve gotten in something they’re making(Idk if they’re used in other places than just DA)
