Chapter One
Chapter One
Terra looked up to the sky.
It was a silent promise kept between them.
I love you.
I’ll be back.
To that I swear.
“Three years I have waited...’’ mumbled. “…only to find out you are dead!”
His voice reached a scream, hot salty tears falling from his eyes.
“JUPI!” cried Terra, slamming his already bloodied fist into the floor. “Jupi…”
Tears mixed with blood on the tiled surface of the floor as Terra curled himself into a ball.
“Jupi…”
---
Who was he?
73994 often wondered of the teal haired male with a bright smile in his dreams.
He often wondered whether the teal man had an equally happy and bright name. Like John. Or Steve.
To think of it, the male reminded himself of…well, himself!
Just…less burdened.
The scientists buzzing around him took a few notes.
73994 clicked his tongue in disgust.
Wow, he was sick of those scientists.
There was always one who caught his eye, though.
In the back, over there.
Hello, Mr. Beautiful!
He was staring at him again.
73994 gave a flirty wink and a smirk, and the scientist turned away, face flushing.
He believed the scientist’s number was 10691539, but 73994 playfully called him Tenny in his mind.
In fact, 73994 knew that the scientist called him Lucky Seven, as an affectionate nickname.
Heh.
Thank god for him.
If not, 73994 would’ve escaped already. But no, he had to be around.
The oxygen mask was pressed onto his nose and mouth again, and a little angry, 73994 caught Tenny’s eyes before falling into a sleep again.
---
“Hey, Ten!”
10691539 looked over.
“Ten!”
Oh. Ten’s sister had arrived. She didn’t have a job, so she didn’t have a number yet, so Ten called her Nineteen.
Yes, you must be wondering, why does Ten think his sister has a higher number than him?
Well, Ten was younger than she was. Of course she was higher than him. I mean, duh.
“Ten, drooling over Lucky Seven again?”
Ten snapped to attention.
No way!
“H-He’s a patient, I don’t even-“
“Woah!” Nineteen laughed.
“Calm down, Ten,” she said, ruffling Ten’s hair, who was intensely blushing. “There’s no problem with loving someone of the same gender!”
“He makes the moves, not I.” said Ten, huffing.
“Whatever you say, Ten. Whatever you say.”
---
Terra placed his hand against the window.
The sky was black on a morning like this.
Terra was surprised. His hair had gained another streak. Is that…dark blue? Huh!
His mother had told him if he ever got a dark blue streak, there’s something terribly wrong.
OF COURSE THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG. JUPI’S DEAD.
It just reminded him of Jupiter, so he turned away from the mirror.
No more.
No more.
Please.
His entire life flashed before his life, the dinosaurs, the time before them, before he was even formed, and to Jupi.
I wish I could be there. mused Terra. Yeah.
---
73994 woke up to a rough shaking of his shoulder.
“Oi! Dipshit! Get up!” hissed a voice.
“Ah, you decided to come?” hummed Seven, grinning.
“Fuck you.” said the voice.
“Well, what do you want?” asked Seven.
The figure stepped into the light, and Seven grinned.
“What do you want, One?”
A flash of red hair followed by orange-red eyes.
This was One. Seven…did not actually know what his number was, other than the number started with a one.
“One.”
“Lucky Seven.” One hissed the name out like it was poison.
“What, jealous?” cooed Seven, cupping One’s cheek. “Little One.”
One flushed red, and wow, Seven could feel the heat humming from his hand into his own body.
“Don’t you call me that, fucker.”
Seven felt cold metal against his arm, and he pulled it back.
“You still haven’t told me what you want.” said Seven.
“I want out.” said One.
“I’ve already said, little One, I can’t help you with that!” said Seven, waking someone up. Said someone gave a giggle and a sharp shush, then rolled over.
“That was a close- One? One~?” said Seven, turning.
And just like that, One was gone.
---
The next day, 73394 was a little woozy from being up so late.
The preset alarm next to his bed rang with fearless abandon, with everyone elses’.
Seven gave a yawn, and noticed a flash of a brown-black lab coat disappear behind a door.
“Seven~” sang his friend. He hadn’t bothered to find out her number, so he called her Five. “You’ve got a stalker~”
“No way, shut up.” hissed Seven. “’Sides, it’s one of those scientist guys.”
“I heard he has a crush on you!” called out someone from the other side of the room.
“No way, Four!” said the girl next to the someone. “I heard you have a crush on him!” she shouted, addressing Seven.
Seven immediately turned a pale shade of red.
“No way! I flirt with him, it’s in no way a crush!” Seven shouted.
“Ah, well, be that way, Seven.” sang Five. “Be that way~”
