Reading Way Too Far Into Faux's Character During The Final Boss Fight
Inspired by @treemintart's post and my own nightmare blunt rotation thoughts on this fascinating little murder man.
his Project Algo form alone strikes me as a neat visual indicator that he's lost it, and even his humanity to an extent. I mean the only human part of him is literally just a head at his point, and his 'body' doesn't even resemble something human
but I still think about how it's obvious he clearly intended to return to his humanity after he won. He kidnapped Solace and held him somewhere just for that purpose, and that's also the answer to my original thought of "why didn't he just kill Solace while we were freaking out"
he shields himself here because it's the only way to protect himself, but it's also interesting how he keeps the shutters closed like he's genuinely listening to Felix. he didn't even throw Felix off until he heard what he had to say
and the final moment where his shutters are forced open RATTLES about inside my brain because: why didn't he just shake everybody off. i don't think his Algo form NEEDS the giant arms to move a short distance. Felix was boosting in a straight line. even if he couldn't move, instead of attempting anything else, he spends his last line still trying to communicate how he feels as if it would change anything
and of course, it could just be pettiness, but goddamn it breaks my heart
the tldr is that i think despite haven given up basically all of his humanity and claimed that he doesn't regret, Faux still wants to be understood, even by the man he literally murdered AND multiple people he is trying to murder. he screams about his grievances and issues despite the fact that nobody will listen to him anymore
