It took me long enough, but Insurrection is now completely crossposted to AO3!
This is the first of the Project Blur stories, a Sonic universe I share with my friend Ardil the Traveller. Insurrection itself is an adaptation/fix-it of Shadow's game, doing such things as slightly shifting its place in the timeline, keeping Shadow's Adventure 2 personality, and reimagining the Black Arms as a terrorist insurrection group.
It's almost ten years old now, but I think it holds up nicely even so! Please enjoy!
Wait so since sonic, shadow and silver are brothers, so that's mean tails has three hedgehog brothers now???
Haha, sure does!
He's still emotionally closest to Sonic, of course. In Project Blur, Sonic adopted him as a brother during Sonic 2, by which I mean he saw a sad kid on the grounds of an orphanage and decided he was going on an adventure, and Sonic being Sonic, that was that, paperwork be damned.
Let me see... in Project Blur, Tails is already friendly with Shadow, who retains his Adventure 2 personality and is pretty mellow when there's no danger. Tails reminds him of the ARK scientists, and he can keep up with Tails' technobabble, at least when it comes to space technology.
Silver is again full of spoilers. Another member of his family gets stuck in the past with him post-Generations, and this person actually works at Tails' company, Prower Products. Silver's big on community and family and happily accepts Tails into his, along with Sonic.
Yeah do you have any sonic shadow and silver being brothers cuz I really like this idea, and also how would they react if they found out if they're brothers???
Almost all the fic I've written about it has been private RP with my friend Ardil, and we've both been busy with life and other fandoms for several years and haven't been able to keep up with doing the writeups in our shared Sonic universe, I'm afraid!
You can read Insurrection (Complete at Fanfiction.net, incomplete at AO3) which is an adaptation of Shadow the Hedgehog taking place in this universe, as well as Unity (Incomplete at Fanfiction.net), an adaptation of Sonic Heroes with a lot of influence from the 1990's Sonic OVA. These stories are part of what we call Project Blur - our shared Sonic universe. Neither deals directly with Sonic, Shadow, and Silver being brothers, and in fact Silver's not in them since we never did start posting the Sonic 2006 adaptation, Causality, but this headcanon does influence a lot of background elements.

The way way we dealt with it is that Silver always knew he was related to Shadow. The village who created him found Sonic's old creation pod, but they assumed - logically enough based on the limited information they had - that it was Shadow's. Much later on, Silver got stuck in Sonic's time and eventually told Shadow about it, whose basic reaction was '...what? I was created on the ARK.' Shadow then passed it on to Sonic, who got the location from Silver, visited his birthplace, and was honestly pretty shaken by it, though he mostly pretended otherwise.
Shadow always had suspicions about Sonic because those kinds of superpowers don't just evolve naturally, but actually having proof... didn't really change much about their friendship, honestly. Shadow remains pretty mellow in Project Blur unless something trips his trauma triggers, and he's friendly with Sonic, if occasionally finding him overwhelming and preferring small doses. They also tend to express their fondness for each other in the form of friendly ribbing, races, and sparring.
I can't speak as much about Silver without really spoiling a few aspects of how he's handled in Project Blur, but he basically accepts matters and is more outgoing than Shadow and less so than Sonic; he hangs out with Sonic more, but that more has to do with Sonic roaming more than either he or Shadow does than any lingering animosity. Early on, Sonic is determined to show the guy from the horrible burning post-apocalyptic future important things such as good restaurants and ice skating with nothing but your normal shoes and Chaos-boosted superpowers, and Silver's happy to learn!
