Project Description
This piece titled Annoying Texts explores the anxiety and dependence a user feels through the use of messages interaction and technology. Through the use of overwhelming colours, glitches, noises as well as font choice and letter dynamics, the viewer is able to experience a sense of complete uneasiness and perhaps even panic as the video unfolds.
As the interaction and dependency takes place, the uneasiness and anxiety becomes quite apparent and even uncomfortable. The noises getting louder and repetitive while the glitches more frequent, almost as if technology was seeping through the glitches, trying to claw at whatever it could take hold of.
The anxiety experienced through the message exchanges becomes increasingly troublesome and worrying as the glitching and the noises increase is power and range. As this anxiety seeps through so does the overwhelming over technology as the display between two very different platforms takes over, acting as a never-ending loop within technology. As they click on a notification, they are transported to another platform, as they close a window, they are immediately thrown back into another one etc. The anxiety and panic regarding this imprisonment within technology increases towards the end of the video as the user tries in vain to close their message window yet all it does it glitch and open back up over and over again, acting like a never-ending loop.
