I’ve been cleaning Lawless documents for hours to filter out old concepts into the “abandoned” pile and I FUCKING FIND THIS.
aaron: not in the mood. ashton: no one can tell because your facial muscles don’t work. aaron: Is that the sound of cicadas I hear because I don’t care. ashton: again, no one can tell.
I love writing their banter and bickering.

Because there’s a lot of little shipper moments between every character- even side characters, so from a fanservice perspective- you can generally give ppl the potential to take any couple anywhere.
Although. Whether or not they’ll make it anywhere in canon is. Hm. Debatable.
I mean, I’m going to be super vague now-
Ashton’s reveal acts as a cinderella joke. When he finally forces himself into Aaron’s group, he uses the words; quote “I’m yours for the taking!~” Alice asks “What do you say, Aaron?” and Ashton interrupts with “I-I wasn’t talking to Aaron!” Smooth Ashton. It would help to look at your crush when saying that.
There’s also a section where Aaron and Alice talk/debate for literally an hour without Ashton interrupting them. Alice chimes in with “You can join the conversation, no one will stop you,” and Aaron replies with “I might.” She glares at him and he replies with “I was winning the argument.” He actually does end up joining the conversation though. This bit is my favorite because they get so easily sidetracked the moment Ashton joins and they’re not bothered by it at all, they just go with it despite being in a heated debate.
One of my other favorites is. Just. This small section says so much about their relationship;
Ashton: Time to eat!Alice: Slow down or you’ll choke!Aaron: In that case- do eat faster.
Ashton wants to enjoy himself, Alice wants to make sure everyone is okay, and Aaron just wants everyone to shut up.
That kind of relationship you wish Aaron and Ashton to have where they’re all looking for information about the current/old wars and Ashton leans his head against Alice’s because she’s so short and he’s tired, and Alice scolds him and goes all “i’m not that short!” so Aaron does the same thing and leans his head against her to prove her wrong and Alice just “I liked it better when you two weren’t getting along and were picking at each other and not me,”
IF AARON AND ASHTON EVER END UP RESOLVING THEIR CONFLICT, THEY MIGHT END UP POKING FUN AT ALICE TOGETHER AND THAT’S THE KINDA GOOD SHIT FRIENDSHIP I WANT FOR THIS TRIO. EVERYONE MAKES FUN OF EVERYONE. NO ONE IS SAFE.
I had the cutest image in mind of Alice figuring out she can touch Aaron’s hair all she wants when he’s asleep so she taps it lightly at first but then moves her fingers through it only to ruffle it and by the end she just makes a mess- so when Aaron wakes up he sees half his hair on one side perfectly straight and the other side just has a giant poof of hair sticking out in all directions he jUST THINKS IT’S A NORMAL BEDHEAD THAT PEOPLE GET LIKE “AH I MUST HAVE SLEPT ON THIS SIDE TOO MUCH OR TURNED A LOT IN MY SLEEP?”
He’d suspect Ashton but never Alice.
Alice could get away with so many pranks tbqh.
