Time for another project spotlight! Today, we're chatting with Sam from The Ichorous Rot.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your teammates!
@spinning-logic: Hey-o, I'm Charlie. I will be voice acting, sound editing, and assisting in some writing for our Podcast Jam entry! My first ever fiction podcast was Welcome to Night Vale (as it is for many, I'm sure), and my current favorite is pretty squarely tied with Malevolent and The Magnus Archives--though I'm truly loving Protocol too. I'm dipping my toes into hearing even more podcasts, like WOE.BEGONE and Old Gods of Appalachia. This is the first Podcast I've ever worked on, and hopefully what I learn from it will lead to creating more!
@moookar: Hi hi hello, I’m Mooo! I’m voice acting and writing. I’ve never worked on a podcast before TIR, but boy oh boy do I have lots of experience listening: WOE.BEGONE, Malevolent, and The Grotto are some of my current favorites, and I got started listening with The Magnus Archives and Dimension 20. Most of all, I’m just a fan of any speculative fiction I can get my hands on.
@gooboogy: I'm G! I do the music and some of the voice acting for The Ichorous Rot. I've been listening to audiobooks for ages and I listened to The Adventure Zone but only really started listening to audio dramas about a year ago with The Magnus Archives and Malevolent. It's not until I listened to WOE.BEGONE that I considered doing one myself! I don't have a fav podcast, but I have some fav characters such as Lucas Miller, Elias Bouchard, Kayne, and Ty Betteridge respectively. My fav genre is when Shit Gets Weird and I love it best when there's fucked up little blorbos :3
@fluxoid: Hey there! I'm Niall! I'll be doing some of the voice work for the Ichorous Rot. I've been listening to audio drama (and actual play) podcasts for over a decade now, starting with Welcome to Night Vale (of course). Current favorites are probably WOE.BEGONE and Midst, though I'm listening to many more. This is my first foray into the creative side of things and I'm excited to see where it goes!
@falloutcoys: Hello, I'm Sam! I'll be co-writing for The Ichorous Rot. I got started listening to WTNV in 2014 but really got into audio dramas when I picked up TMA in 2021. My current favorite pods have to be Midst,Not Quite Dead and WOE.BEGONE! This will be the first show I'm involved being published, but I'm writing my own passion project as well (@aboardtheichthyoid).
What's your podcast about?
Our project is set in 1880s West Virginia. Dr. Theodore Yates as he's overwhelmed in his duties as Janesville’s only doctor by a mysterious illness spreading through the town. We follow him through a combination of his own medical notes recorded on a wax cylinder, and snippets of audio following him and his best friend Alonzo as he tries to find a way to resolve The Ichorous Rot. It's a mystery that explores the effects of working class life and generational trauma through a supernatural lens.
What are you most excited about in this event?
This event has been such a great learning opportunity and way to collaborate with others! Everyone has had great ideas and we're able to bounce off each other and flesh out the story together, which is a really unique experience.
Any advice for other participants, or those on the fence about joining?
If you've been on the fence about joining, go for it! This is a really fun experience and it has the lowest possible stakes. Worst case scenario, you've met some great people and learned about producing a podcast. Best case scenario, you make an episode you're really proud of that grows into something much bigger.
While this team is no longer looking for new members, you can follow their project here on Tumblr @theichorousrot. Additionally, with a couple days left to sign up, there's still time to join the fun and work on a Podcast Jam project yourself - find out more information here!
The year is 2072, and we're talking about the solarpunk sci-fi pilot Eart FM with team member Ari!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your teammates!
Hi, I’m Clover! I’m a writer, voice actor, and audio engineer. I’m helping edit Eart FM, and potentially voice act in it. I’m working on a few podcasts, but none of them have released yet. My first and favorite podcast is Wolf 359. I technically have a tumblr account, but I don’t use it, so you can find me lurking on various podcast discords, mainly the official WOE.BEGONE discord.
@lotsadeer: My name is Izze Sykes, I'm an illustrator, writer, podcaster, game designer, voice actor, and wearer of many hats. I'll be doing the cover art for this podcast! The first podcast I ever listened to was Welcome to Night Vale, don't ask me my favourite podcast that's like asking me to choose children, and I'm involved in a few podcasts at the moment! Hope's Hearth, an actual play podcast; Abbey Archives, a Redwall reread podcast; SCP Research Archives, an SCP article podcast; Colchis, a sci-fi audio drama; and Cauterized, a horror audio drama. Plus a few podcasts that are in the works. I like podcasts.
@aclickbaittitle: Hello, I am Ari! I like to say I am a storyteller. I am the organizer (?) for Eart FM and I also plan to sound-design and write. Like a lot of people I got into audio drama through Welcome to Nightvale and then it was history. My most recent project is a little short-fiction podcast called “Broken Hearted: The Friendship monologues”.
Hello, I'm Laurel. I'm a writer, digital artists, and self proclaimed voice actor. I will be voicing the role of "The Host" in Eart(h) FM! I have not participated in any projects publicly but I have be doing voice work for fun with friends and a bit on my joint youtube channel. My favorite podcast is definitely Penumbra Podcast, my younger brother showed it to me and I was hooked instantly. I don't use my tumblr anymore but you can find me on discord @ cyanosiis!
@timberfins/@elijahharpermusic: I'm Eli, or Timber, and I'm providing music! The first podcast I remember falling in love with was Welcome To Night Vale, but my current favourite is probably Within The Wires (unless we're also including non-fiction, where it's competing with Lingthusiasm). I sing with the Anguilliform Chorus in Eeler's Choice, and you'll also hear me in two Law of Names productions: Season 4 of Breathing Space and the upcoming Waterlogged.
Hey guys, my name is Johnny Fuent, I am a MBA student trying to survive in this trying world. I am a huge nerd, and love to travel. I have been to over 14 different countries and plan to expand that number. I also host my own podcast as well. My first podcast that I listened to was Campfire Radio Theater, and my favorite podcast is Midnight burger. Currently I am a writer for the podjam and happy to be here.
What's your podcast about?
Solar-punk sci-fi with anti space-colonialism sentiments. It is the year 2072, the poles have melted and humanity has taken for the stars, except for the HOST, . To cope with being the only human on earth, they’ve decided to create a Radio Show where they broadcast music from various times and places of the world. One day someone finally calls to the radio station an ECOLOGIST, living on the skirt of the iztaccihuatl bearing news that the earth is healing.
Together they embark on a quest for other humans that still live on planet earth, finding various communities and people, and begin to help the earth one day heal.
What are you most excited about in this event?
To collaborate with other creators in order to tell a story that is very dear to my heart.
Any advice for other participants, or those on the fence about joining?
Consult it with the pillow, but if come morning you discover that is just the nerves and impostor syndrome keeping you from participating, take that leap. At the end of the day, we are all just a bunch of people trying to tell stories the same as you.
This team is still looking for new members, adding: "We are currently looking for the ecologist voice actor. We are specifically looking for a chicane / mexican-american voice actor since we are writing the ecologist with an experience specific to said identity (don’t worry, you don’t need to know spanish or anything, as long as you have a connection with the ethnicity or identity, you are welcome to join!)"
If you're interested in joining their project, you can find their casting call here, or you can reach out in the Podcast Book Club Discord server. If you want to know more about the jam first, be sure to check out this post as well!
Over the coming weeks, we'll be highlighting a Jam project and the team behind it. Today, we're talking with Quills of SPACE SPECKS, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi project with an exclusively aspec cast, both characters and crew!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your teammates!
I'm Quills, @quillsandpaper, and part of the writing, editing and voice acting for the project. I love anything supernatural, sci-fi or YA, especially if it includes fey lore or space. One of my favourite podcasts are Bridgewater and In Strange Woods.
@rawlyx: Hi, I’m Rawlyx, and I’m the main artist and one of the voice actors on this wonderful project! I got into podcasts after a friend suggested listening to them while I study and draw. My all-time favorites are The Magnus Archives and Just Roll With It, and I’m currently listening to Red Valley :]
@lumoakes: I'm Lumi Oakes. I'm a writer and Voice Actor on this podcast. I'm also the producer of Wanderer's Journal (@wanderersjournalpod). I got into fiction podcasts through The Bright Sessions a few years back, and I've recently really enjoyed Ethics Town.
@adragoncat: Hello, my name is Cat and I am one of the VA’s for Space Specks! I got into podcasts via The Magnus Archives and love JRWI, WTNV and I Am In Eskew.
@smallsies: Howdy, I'm Finch, and I'll be a VA and musician, along with co-writing and -editing the pilot! My introduction to audio drama was a few episodes of Welcome to Night Vale several years ago, and my current favorite is WOE.BEGONE.
What's your podcast about?
Our project is set on another planet in space after the second apocalypse has struck our characters. They're barely getting by as they're recovering from this disaster but a determined crew sets out to re-enter the dangerous zones in order to find a friend they’re hoping has survived. It’s really no surprise that they all have their own demons to battle alongside the looming danger of whatever is out there, and… well... death. A special element of our project is that all of our characters are some flavour of aspec, and our entire team is somewhere on the spectrum too!
What are you most excited about in this event?
I am having a lot of fun with the world- and character building that we are doing as a team. And putting the actual script writing aside, which I am also excited for, I'm really looking forward to recording and seeing the story elements and character dynamics flesh out and unfold in audio as well as hearing what the other teams have come up with! Additionally I'm honestly also so excited to see the art our talented artists on the team come up with.
Any advice for other participants, or those on the fence about joining?
It is my first time doing something in this shape and form so what I can say is: there's no level of skill set you necessarily need to have to participate because a lot of us are new to all of this. So don't hesitate because you're second-guessing yourself! Come join the event, let your creativity flow and don't forget to have fun!
This team is not accepting new members at this time, but if you're interested in learning more about the Podcast Jam event, check out this post for more information.
In this spotlight, we're visiting a radio tower at the end of the world to speak with Tommy of the post-apocalyptic Hello? Are you there?!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your teammates!
@starcourtmallcollective: Hi! I’m Tommy, a osdd1-b system who loves writing! I’m the writer of the podcast (big surprise hehe) and I cannot wait to show what we’ve got in store! I’ve never done anything like this before but I do love listening to podcasts such as Hello From The Hallowoods and The Magnus Archives!
Hi, I’m Monte D. Monteleagre. I’m a writer, musician, photographer and apparent artist living in New York City. I’m a member of Wolf Mountain Workshop and help write and produce inc: The Podcast as well as stories on Tales From Wolf Mountain. For this project, I will be designing the cover art.
@wav-file: Hi I'm Jay, I'm the editor for this project! It's my first time making a podcast and I'm super excited about it!
@im-the-punk-who: Milo here! A writer, actor, artist, and general ex-theatre-kid, I am the VA for this project! Recent projects include the last three rounds of Hubris, in the episodes 'The Dreamscape Highway,' 'Whiskering City,' and 'Let Me Tell You A Story.'
What's your podcast about?
Our podcast is about a person in a post apocalyptic world! A man-made one, so the economy crashed, we all blew ourselves up, etc. the main character, Aiden, finds an old radio tower and uses it to tell stories of old! And some stories of personal people he’s met that he never got to keep for long. It heavily centers around themes of abandonment and being lonely!
What are you most excited about in this event?
I’m most excited about the voice behind Aiden, our VA is absolutely AMAZING and I can’t to hear Aiden come to life!
Any advice for other participants, or those on the fence about joining?
Umm, I’d have to say that while it sounds scary, it’s so much fun! It’s like ripping a bandaid off and you’ll have a whole team to help out as well. If you have an idea or if you think you’d want to dip your toes into something, then do it! Believe in yourself!
This team is not accepting new members at this time, but if you're interested in learning more about the Podcast Jam event, check out this post for more information.

Winthrop University Women’s Basketball: Project Spotlight
The Heritage Signs & Displays team of experiential graphics experts recently partnered with Winthrop University to create an immersive educational environment and celebrate their women’s basketball team in Rock Hill, SC. The goal of the new signage was to highlight the accomplishments of women’s athletics at the university and amplify the visual appeal of the university’s athletic facilities.
Heritage’s environmental graphic design team worked diligently to produce graphics that were expertly installed within Winthrop University’s coliseum. This included wall wraps in the hallways, restrooms, and connecting backrooms. Each wall graphic showcased important events in Winthrop athletics, as well as important values of Winthrop’s athletics teams while reinforcing the university’s unique colors and branding.
Winthrop University is a distinguished four-year public institution celebrated for its top rankings and commitment to delivering high-quality education. Known nationwide for its dedication to academic excellence, Winthrop fosters growth and curiosity among students driven to excel. The Winthrop women’s basketball team has played in the Winthrop Coliseum since 1982, a multipurpose arena that seats up to 6,100 people. Semeka Randall has been the head coach of the Winthrop University’s women’s basketball team since 2021.

About the crew:
N. V. MAY:
Valdivian originally started with James and I last year for the first podjam! This year, I'm continuing as a showrunner, writer, and editor with minor voice acting cameos. I took the leap to transition into audio drama last podjam, and I'm here to stay. I'm also part of the PBC team! If you come to LPs, chances are you've already met me :P I'm writer and showrunner first, and then I wear any of the hats no-one else has put on yet.
JAMES GARNER:
Greetings to whoever is reading this (yes, you), I’m a returning member of the Valdivian team from last year, where I was the co-creator, writer, and editor (among other miscellaneous things) along with my partner in chrome, Cole. This time around however, due to events in my personal life, I opted to take a backseat during this Podjam. My main contribution toward Valdivian's Redacted, beyond a last-minute editing spree, was writing, directing and editing the Supernova episode you briefly hear at the start of the episode. It was the first time since making the pilot last year that I’ve got to sink my gnashers into something AD-wise, and whilst I might have had a little bit too much fun, it provided an opportunity for me to improve my skills and learn new things that I look forward to applying in future projects.
AARON:
I'm involved in the writing as an assistant writer, this is my first audio drama I've worked on and whilst I'm aware of the medium I haven't branched out much. I'm a big fan of genre fiction/speculative fiction overall though and hopefully my poking my nose in has assisted with those elements.
DAN MAC:
I'm a very amateur voice actor who got involved with Valdivian during last year's podjam and now refuses to leave. Podjam 2024 was my first ever creative involvement in an audio drama. I've loved audio dramas for a long time, I was always really into the idea of telling a story entirely through sound and was fascinated by the history of radio plays growing up. My first ever audio drama is the same as a lot of people around my age: Welcome to Night Vale. It actually inspired me to get involved in community radio!
POGO:
Hi, I’m Pogo and I’m an artist for Valdivian’s [REDACTED] this year! I have a background in both art and running audio dramas, but since this is my first Podjam I really wanted to be involved in the artistic side more. I create the concept and cover art for both the teaser and actual episode. I’m a huge sci-fi enthusiast, and some of my favorite audio dramas are Girl in Space and Deviser, but it was definitely Girl in Space that got me into the producing side of audio dramas.
WYNN AHN:
I was the voice of Synthia for Valdivian's [REDACTED], which was my first major role in an AD. As for what got me into ADs, Welcome to Nightvale was the first one I ever listened to, and it opened my eyes to this completely new medium. I think I also absorbed a love for The Magnus Archives by osmosis during my time on Tumblr. My current AD on loop is Midnight Burger. I clearly have predictable tastes.
KEELAN SMITH:
I'm lucky enough to be part of the Valdivian crew. I got into the scene a bit after Cole brought it up to me, knowing I'd mentioned I'd like to try my hand at voice acting, and it went from there for me. Being relatively new to audio fiction podcasts myself I've gone down the OG pipeline of The Magnus Archives and loved it. Taking part in the previous jam, as well as this one, has been so much fun and it's helped me to just go and do something productive and creative, that I'm hoping I'll stick to, simply due to how I've loved taking part in it and everyone I've met has been nothing but lovely.
What is Valdivian's [REDACTED]: Competitive Market about?
The Ghost In The Narrative. For those who don't know, the ghost in the narrative is a trope in which someone who is not present (likely dead) in the story but is constantly felt. Their past influences the present. Pluto's Plunder, a space pirate crew of three (formerly four), have a debt to settle and are going to prime a Valdivian Long Hauler Ship so it's ready for the taking for a much larger fleet of pirates.
With their anchor gone, tensions are high. Seventeen-year-old Charlie, who escaped The Crown when he was very young, constantly butts heads with freshly appointed Captain Nax. Nax was a long term partner of Charlie's brother, and it feels as though they've both accidentally inherited each other in his absence.
Then, there is Synthia, who has a boat load of complications regarding her standing in the crew and their missing piece, most of which will be divulged in part two... She would just like it if her found family would make it out alive and in one piece, thank you very much.
While also built upon real histories of pirates and maritime politics, this is a podcast inspired by the likes of Alien: Romulus. It is not advised that listeners partake in any smoothie drinking, soup eating, or any broth related activities while listening to this episode.
Any advice for hopeful creators looking to kickstart their own show?
N. V. MAY:
We have negative budget. Audacity (both the behaviour and the audio editor) is free. There are so many tutorials and free sfx out there. There's a beautiful community that will support you. You can do this.
JAMES GARNER:
Speaking of future projects, for those of you (yes, that’s you again) who are looking to launch their own show, I would implore you to briefly lock away any inhibitions you have and take the plunge. Each time I’ve put my mind to creating something, there's inevitably ups and downs, but it’s through this process that I’ve learnt so much. Podjam is a great way to meet like-minded creatives, and I feel incredibly lucky to have met the incredible individuals who make up the Valdivian crew and elevate the material beyond anything I could've imagined. So, if you have an idea that's been nagging you until the early hours of the morning, give it a shot, meet people who inspire you, cherish the process, both the ups and downs and create something!
AARON:
My biggest advice would just be that you should be willing to lend a hand. Help out your peers, ask what you can do to assist, that sorta thing.
DAN MAC:
I think the thing that's so great about audio drama and what makes it so accessible to creatives is how it is largely an indie space. There are so many tools out there available for free or at low cost that facilitate people who want to make narrative audio. There's also community spaces and events like podjam which can and almost certainly will give you the resources and opportunity to move forward with either creating your own show or getting involved in one in the capacity that most interests you. Everyone is learning and developing their skills together.
POGO:
If you have an idea for a show, please by all means go for it! It doesn’t matter if you’re bad at it, we all start somewhere. Try to fill every role yourself so you can have a feel for which roles you enjoy and don’t enjoy doing. What’s important is starting it, then everything will follow.
WYNN AHN:
I'm not an expert on AD creation by any means, but as a novelist, my advice for any type of creative project would be to enjoy the process! Having the ability to create characters and worlds is incredibly freeing. Revel in the freedom, talk to your fellow creatives, and tell your story:)
KEELAN SMITH:
My advice would be to just dive in the deep end, get started and enjoy it. The PBC has so many passionate people there that I'm sure you will be able to find people who are interested in your idea and want to help you see it to fruition. There's a wealth of knowledge you can get from people here, so take that with open arms and hopefully you'll find your own crew to get your idea up off the ground and towards becoming a reality.
