Backlog from early May 2023. A brother has fallen... 😔🙏

Been wanting to draw my iteration of Odd's family for a while now! Odd's sisters were never officially shown on screen and we only know them by name. Judging by the conversation he had on the phone in S4 where he deliberately missed his flight due to a Lyoko emergency, I assumed that Adele might be the sibling he's closest to and the youngest sister since he confidently greeted his other sister Pauline by mistakenly calling her Adele.

The social media screenshot UI was inspired by Instagram and Tumblr. Usernames and their account owners: - xoddballx (Odd) - macrolini (Pauline, Odd's fourth sister) - adelweiss (Adele, Odd's fifth sister) - margueritedellarobbia (Odd's mom) - saberstern (Ulrich) - dj_aelita (Aelita)

This takes place in my spin-off/original story Project UNCIA with Odd as the protagonist and the Lyoko Warriors are in their early twenties.

XYZ SIBLINGS INTRO

I'm happy to finally introduce the XYZ siblings in art form after brainrotting for so long through writing about him and his siblings in my original story/spin-off of Code Lyoko, Project UNCIA 😭

I introduced concepts for their species earlier on here!

I took part in the #sgoctradingcard event which gave me an excuse to draw the siblings, though I could've done a better job with the graphic design and everything had I started much earlier 🤣 Deliberately kept the art style simpler after spending so long working on Cinthya and I have the tendency to overcomplicate things 🗿

ZOL:

He's energetic and curious and will steal your snacks if you leave them unattended 👀 Despite his playful nature, Zol knows when it's time to have fun and time to be serious. He is incredibly smart for a rynka but with intelligence comes mischief - not everyone can handle him and he gets labelled 'stubborn' or 'untrainable' sometimes. There are times he decides he wants to do his own thing so you must know how to negotiate with him.

He loves working together with his rider Aria (who I will formally introduce via art soon) and is very loyal to them, and by extension whoever Aria is close to. Zol likes to retrieve and gift things, where his gifts can range from a single rock, a branch, food, tools... Anything he thinks is interesting or useful!

YSRI:

Ysri [pronounced 'is-rri'] is anything but the stereotypical "forgotten middle child". With a heart of gold and dignified loyalty, her royal blue and red coat is coincidentally apt as "people's Prince" Faros [pronounced 'fah-rros'] of Rodron is her rider.

Although she isn't the easiest rynka to get close to, she is a reliable ally and dependable friend you can count on if you gain her trust. Ysri cares for her brothers deeply and looks out for them despite the occasional sibling squabble, as well as her rider Faros and by extension anybody he's close to.

I found myself gawking while designing Ysri's card frames (idk maybe I was high from lack of sleep) and it gave me Star Wars vibes for some reason.

XILIM:

Xilim [pronounced 'si-lim'] may be docile by nature, though he dozes off when he gets a bit too relaxed and isn't much help saving you unless you give him detailed instructions on what to do... He will just stand there or idle like an NPC and lacks natural guarding instincts - something his rider needs to keep in mind. If you do tell him to keep watch and be firm about it, only then will he fulfil that task. But he is good for hugs! He's also a popular choice among his drift for public meet-and-greets when there's open houses since he's one of the calmest around strangers.

Fun fact: The notch on his 'ear' is natural and doesn't cause him any issues. What may look like ears on rynka are actually akin to whiskers, helping them sense and pick up vibrations in their surroundings! Their actual ears are hidden behind those appendages and look similar to bird ears.

You may have first heard of Zol and Xilim as the name of my pigeonboi and crowboi plushies by @berry_winkle_ if you follow my Instagram but the reality is the plushies were named after the OCs and not the other way around hehe 👁️ Zol and his siblings mean a lot to me and I hope to share more about them 🥺

Cat memes, but they’re all Odd

Let’s be honest: Odd would totally do most - if not all - these things and it’s just a normal day in his life. Except probably the Crocs on his head; he’d most likely consider it a fashion disaster and wouldn’t even go close to it, so it’d be some prank or dare he was forced to take part in.

I had this idea sitting in my head for a while and used it as vent art while I was art blocked from commissions, also to practice on facial expressions which I’m not very good at, and it gave me an excuse to draw him :”))

This is my redesign of his Lyoko avatar from my spin-off fic Project UNCIA where Odd is the protagonist and in his late teens/early 20s, which you can read on AO3. I did a concept sketch earlier here.

Coloured in my birthday sketch done by the amazing @Artgerm!

I requested it a month in advance from my actual birthday (26 March) as it was also his final lesson with my class, so the original sketch in black marker on paper (last image) was done on 17 February. And yes Artgerm, he is handsome enough thank you owo

I wanted to render it but liked how the flats look with the raw graphic lines, so left it at that. This is my redesign of Odd in his late teens/early twenties in my spin-off fic combined with my original world in Project UNCIA.

Happy Lunar New Year 2022! 🐯🧧

I gave up rendering this and just wanted to get it done :') something personal to lift my spirits in between assignments so I didn't take it too seriously! Of course I had to draw Odd and a tiger. It was only natural. I also happen to be born in the year of the tiger 👁️ Hope you like the silly comic I added too, haha This is set in my spinoff fic Project UNCIA where the Lyoko Warriors are in their early 20s.

Bonus birthday sketch for @ketnoire 👀✨ I tried to render him but I'm still working on brushing up my skills so 😩😩😩 Not very happy with it but!! Good practice nonetheless 🙏 Hope you still like it hehe Impromptu William bust based on my reimagined design of him in my original universe x spin-off Project UNCIA where the Lyoko Warriors are in their early 20s! Originally, I drew his brow scar on the right for earlier designs but forgot and swapped it to the left, oops 💀 Still a work in progress so we shall see what other changes may happen in the future ✨

[Project UNCIA] Odd sketches

For #datutorialeye, and also because Odd has been in my head a lot lately so this was the perfect excuse to draw him- he is my serotonin... since 2007   These are my redesign sketches/concepts for a spin-off fanfic I've been working on in my free time where he's the protagonist and much older. I always thought that he looked androgynous (I mistook him for a tomboy the first time I saw him but his design was what made me think he was cool) and really liked it, so I tried to retain that androgyny. I would imagine he's the type of person with a baby face and since he's small/short in stature, I also didn't want to make him too tall when he's older. Maybe he could be a little shorter, but I'd picture almost everyone else to be taller than him so... Basically I picked and kept what I liked from both his S4 and Evolution designs to combine it for his Lyoko form. As for what 'Peraryl' means, it's the fictional world in my spin-off where he's something like a specter that retains all his Lyoko abilities but with normal Earth habits like the need to eat, sleep, and he can also get physically injured. I gave him a different hairstyle on Earth because canonically (in my spin-off) he got tired having to gel/style his Lyoko-style hair every day for years afterwards, but he still has purple highlights. All that maintenance is pretty time-consuming and pricey, and now that he's older perhaps he felt it was time he tried something different. He still keeps the same spiked hairstyle on Lyoko though! That was one aspect I didn't want to change to honour his original design. And yes, he has pierced ears. Idk, when paired with that shorter spiky hairstyle I felt it was a perfect match and it just clicked. VILUJIN (Striped Octohound)

A shy, elusive creature that makes its home in deserts and occasionally seen in tundra. Most active at dawn and dusk where the sun is low on the horizon. Locally known as 'vilujin' but also known to Earthlings as the striped octohound or just 'octohound', after its 8 tendrils and 'doglike' appearance.

Its reverse countershading is a warning to others not to get too close as its tentacle-like tendrils on its back secrete venom. When threatened, it lowers his head to the ground with a wide stance and its tendrils undulate simultaneously in a wave-like pattern to intimidate foes. It may also make a hissing noise similar to the rattle of a rattlesnake.

If the initial threat display is ineffective, it will either flee or attack with its tendrils jabbing the foe like a supersonic punch. The venom is potent enough to temporarily paralyse victims by numbing their senses but only lethal to creatures much smaller than itself. It does not use its tendrils to hunt, only as a self-defense technique and possibly as a display in mating rituals - more research is needed to confirm the latter theory.

In the past, it was revered as a sacred animal where seeing one in person was a sign of luck. The ancient nomadic peoples of Kaskora Dunes would host a dance ceremony each time a vilujin was sighted, hoping that good news would come their way like safe delivery of a child or rain after drought. This practice died out in modern times but some people still like to believe the old tales where sighting a vilujin brings good luck - particularly travellers who spend long periods of time in the desert where getting lost, injured or dehydrated is common. I couldn't decide which one I liked most so I made 3 versions... This piece was meant to be a different interpretation of my sona for pride but impromptu plans also turned it into a creature from #Project UNCIA wahoo!! Last image is a collage of my original concepts which have nothing to do with Project UNCIA 🤣
