Materials and Tools Im using for my 2026 Art challenge
Hey everyone! This is a walkthrough of how I do my daily drawings.
1. Spin character/OC wheel
On wheel of names ive created many wheels, the first of which is this. You don’t need to do this and can choose what character to use, it doesn’t need to be random.

This wheel is full of different ways to color or finish the piece past the line art stage, again not necessary but fun.

This wheel is the fun every growing one. It’s full of AU’s and outfit choices to make each work really different.

4. Picking the pose
I like using poses on paper so I have many books full of them. But there’s one specifically I use and it’s amazing and definitely worth the buy for anyone looking for dynamic posing. I’ll post a link of where you can buy it. The way I pick my pose is by using a random number generator to give me random pages to choose from. Sometimes it takes a few spins to get a good one you like.

5. Starting the sketch
My current sketchbook is just a basic mixed media one I got at Walmart. For pencils however I like using a mix of real graphite pencils, mine are a Blick and I use 3B hardness. BUT I also like using a red marking pencil to sketch if my drawing will have color. They erase nicely and don’t stand out as much as the graphite. I will link them below. I use a mix of erasers too, a regular rectangle eraser, a pen eraser, a kneaded eraser, and an electric eraser.

6. Line work
After finishing the sketch (or even before then lol) I do my inking. The pens im currently using are Ohuhu brand made for use with their alcohol markers. They dry well and dont smudge when wet media is added. I start with a size .3 for my lines, but move to a .5 to add a thicker outline where I want. Will link below

7. Adding color
I use a mix of Watercolor, Colored pencil, ink, and Alcohol markers. But for this series im using my new watercolor set almost exclusively because I do them on the go. My old set is THIS SET from Hobby lobby. For the price they’re very nice and I’ve used them for years. Actually the first 3 or so days are done with their 48 pan set. I highly recommend for people starting out or are on a budget, or just people in general. They’re very saturated and come in so many varied colors. The colored pencils I use are prismacolor. Ive been collecting for years and have about 100 or so colors now. My inks are basic Dr. Ph. martins India ink. For inks they’re very nice and last a long time between buying more. I use Ohuhu markers, they were given to me by a friend a few years ago. There’s around 120? I think. But I also have the 36 pack of grays which I highly recommend.
