The PADI organization and Project AWARE Foundation are hosting an online video contest, "Sea the Change", where you can share how you care for the aquatic world. You can upload a short video clip about the aquatic life you love and what you are doing to protect it at www.padi.com/seathechange

Visitors can then vote on and share video entries with their friends.

You can enter as many video entries as you like and there's a US$5000 grand prize for grab!

International Coastal Cleanup Day: September 17

Every year, Total Diving teams up with the City of Montreal and the Héritage Laurentien group for the International Coastal Cleanup Day.

This year, you are invited to join us on Saturday, September 17, to "do your part for the planet".

The exact location for this year's cleanup will be announced later - but it's always around the island of Montreal.

There's no registration cost... It's volunteer work! Usually, the lunch is paid by one of the sponsors. You must bring your dive gear (or rent some) and you must be, at least, a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.

JOURNEE internationale de DEPOLLUTION des rives: 17 septembre

À chaque année, l'équipe Total Diving collabore avec la ville de Montréal et le groupe Héritage Laurentien lors de la journée internationale de dé-pollution des rives.

Cette année, vous êtes invité à vous joindre à nous le samedi 17 septembre pour "faire notre part pour la planète".

L'endroit exact de l'activité sera annoncé prochainement mais c'est toujours quelque-part autour de l'île de Montréal.

Il n'y a pas de frais de participation... C'est du bénévolat! Généralement, le lunch est fourni par un commanditaire. Il faut toutefois que vous ayez votre équipement de plongée et que vous soyez au moins de "Niveau II" (PADI Advanced Open Water Diver).

Montreal Scuba Divers on PADI's Project Aware Website... In the Bahamas!

In late 2010, a group of Montreal scuba divers went on a dive trip aboard the Blackbeard in the Bahamas. Now they are featured on PADI's Project AWARE website for their monitoring of coral reefs.

Total Diving's trip leaders, instructors Sebastien Savignac & Gilles Decarie, rallied volunteers to study and monitor the reefs during a couple of dives.

"When they got back on deck, the divers told us that this activity made them appreciate their dive in another way they did not expect! Not looking far away for big criters, they said they actually saw a lot of small life forms since they were concentrating on small parts of the reef!" said Sebastien Savignac, PADI Master Instructor at Total Diving Montreal, a PADI Career Development Center (CDC).

This is aligned with goals pursued by Project AWARE in its mission to conserve underwater environment through education, advocacy and action.
