The place where I used to live two years ago is called Tolima Grande, ubicated in Comuna 8. I lived on a second floor, quite spacious and cool. It is close to Topacio, Aguamarina, Villa del Sol and Ciudadela Simon Bolivar. The neighbors of Tolima Grande used to be fraternal with me, because they knew me from a young age, they nicknamed me as "Palu". I remember them quite united for 2 years, organizing meetings to pave our street but that was something that never happened, so our street was known as the only one without paving.
It was a pretty insecure neighborhood, actually it's. Thefts were regular but the neighbors always protected each other. Also everyone there knew about everyone. Something that characterizes the neighborhood where I grew up a lot, is that many homeless people passed by. Some of them sing, others dance, or do weird things; this time, life crossed us with Diego Armando, the representation of the recurring presence of homeless people, passing through Tolima Grande.
He is 32 years old. At 5 years old he came from Valledupar, he began working at 12 years but he studied until tenth grade. He Lives in Nuevo Combeima "sometimes". His mother died, and he manifested it with an air of deep rage and sadness. He lives with his father, but they don't talk much, and he's already a dad too.. his 15-year-old son: Alexander, is an "alien" for him, he says, because he has been just waiting to find him, someday, out there. He was in the military service, and he would like to change his life. Be a seller, maybe. The truth is that his dreams are little, because for him the main thing is earn $30,000 pesos each day recycling from 6 am. When he considered to told us more, he told us that he would wash his hands as soon as he gets home, then, he said that people had done bad things to him in the streets, and he confessed that government send people to kill them; "the homeless people" and also confessed that cops keep them quiet, when they talk confidential information. They’re in the streets, they’ve seen everything. Somewhat resigned, apparently convinced that his condition is irreparable. He’s Diego Armando.

The neighborhood where I have lived all my life does not have a good image, many people consider it like an unsafe place and they prefer to avoid it due to they think that someone could steal them. I can not judge them for believing that, because there was a time when the neighborhood was very dangerous. Sadly San Antonio or better known as “San Antonio de los micos” keeps a bad image. Despite all of this, I have been able to observe some positive and negative changes, for instance, two years ago, the mayor’s office and some neighbors cooperated to pave one of the main roads, after a short time they also built a recreational area, a park for the neighborhood and they also fixed the field. However, year after year the environment deteriorates due to the lack of consciousness of most people, that’s the reason why I chose this picture, because it clearly shows the ignorance, the mental poverty and the lack of commitment to our neighborhood. In addition, it is a common situation because day after day I have to observe how some people throw garbabe next to my house, it is totally an act of disrespect.
On the other hand, there are not many homeless people around the neighborhood, but you can find people living difficult situations or living a completely different reality from yours, an example of this, are two girls who live in the neigborhood, they both dropped out of school, they never like studying. They are two young women, “Juliana” is nineteen years old and her sister, “Karen” is 20 years old and has a son. (I am not going to say their real names).
Juliana, since she was Little has been very difficult, she usually hits other girls, a few months ago she had a fight and for this reason she has a knife-wound on her chest. She went to live with her boyfriend when she was fourteen years old, they worked at a hardware store but they broke up this year and at this moment she is not working.
Karen is the most difficult, she has many scars all over her body, also because she has fought with a knife. She started stealing from a young age, she used to steal on the buses. According to her father, she is the head of a drug cartel.
(San Antonio is next to “la fuente de los rosales” and “la estación”).

I live between two main streets, also, near from San Simon school. Although, It reside like this might not be good due to the noise. But actually, I don't care about that, except for my parents, especially my mom, she usually needs to be concentrated. Next to our apartment, there are three fields to play soccer and basketball. It´s normal look people running from the corner to the another corner too. Those fields are free to everyone. Besides, in front of the building there are many trees and a field where anyone can find many kinds of birds and flowers, but most common birds are those which have yellow chest. Another thing, it´s that the building´s owner has two dogs, but actually the dogs are feed by everyone… Moreover, the oldest dog is called Sasha, she is a little fat, she is too old (I don´t know how old, but it´s a lot). However, that´s everyone says about Sasha´s age, but because of she looks, she seems old. So I don´t have doubt about that. Also, she’s very intelligent. Someday, I was looking her and I saw a secret area where she let the whole food that people give her.

What I learned...
I’ve learned that paint made from fruits and veggies is awesome, but sticky. That Elmer’s glue hates drawing paper and red lentils (along with me). Also that I need to get better at adapting to different media. I may make a stop motion out of the variation of the bean and lentil poster ( which I will make a point of making). I semi-like the outcome because I believe it speaks for the content very well. Photographs of the final results coming soon.
03/22/2018 ... Project 2 ... Adding in some type
I started adding in a bit of type! I was working off my storyboards, but found a couple instances where I could be more playful with how the type interacts with the illustrations. It’s not much, but here’s what I have so far.
03/18/2018 ... Project 2 ... Opening scene?
Whelp I’m off to a great start. For this TYPE in motion project I started off with an opening scene with (almost) no type... Don’t worry, I’m not counting this as a part of my time (which will actually have type I swear), but I just wanted to do something a little fun and a little on the nose before the dialogue started.
Something weird is happening with the grain (it’s because I applied the grain to my recomposition instead of the individual layers beforehand, so it’s looking super not good when I’m move those objects around). Other issues too, but I’ll figure it out).
03/15/2018 ... Project 2 ... Moodboard
I want to use bold, saturated colours, use an illustration style that’s fairly minimal but packs a punch, and have loud type. Vizzini (the character doing most of the debating) is loud and talks fast. He’s sure of himself, and the type needs to reflect that. When “the Battle of Wits” flashes across the screen at the beginning, I want it to be similar to a type treatment in the bottom right, where it almost turns itself into a poster for the event itself (the event being the battle of wits that’s about to take place).
