‘Project 34’ Tyrrell P34 1976 - Swedish Grand Prix. Limited Edition prints available now in my Insta Store & on the website. F1s first 6-wheeled car, initially built as a concept vehicle and one that was met with total disbelief upon its launch. Early testing of the didn’t not go well, and it was was a huge risk to commit to the 1976 season with such a radical car, especially after a string of very successful ‘00’ cars. However, the long list of early issues was slowly ironed out and the car eventually proved hugely competitive, with Jody Scheckter winning the Swedish GP amongst several other strong finishes. Despite his success Scheckter could not get used to the P34s odd driving style, and left the team at the end of the season, harshly labelling the car a ‘piece of junk’. A new taster image for upcoming artwork this weekend, featuring the crazy Tyrrell P34 - after a week off tackling some longer term art projects. A 6-wheeled F1 car was met with shock and deemed a publicity stunt at the time, but Ken Tyrrell was serious and the car proved highly competitive, so much so it won the Swedish GP.
