cloverkit talkies
been talking about this with some friends over on my personal blog and i figured like??? may as well share my thoughts here
i am curious how this will affect the artist
its horrible to make fun of people like that publicly. tbh ill be real here and say in years past i was p much in that same crowd of publicly making fun of artists who arent very good or draw weird things. its a shitty thing to do, ok. dont be like 15 year old me and do that to people
but at the same time im…iffy about this. a bunch of artists are picking up on this, theres a lot of attention being given to it now. i wonder if this is wholesomely good. even tho a lot of these people are trying to do good and be kind, mass attention can…hurt more than it helps. if a similar thing happened to me, i would probably withdraw a lot from the internet, even if a large portion of the attention was people trying to pat my back. i mean i know me and this little artist are not the same, but, you know
plus idek how i exactly feel about the concept of uh….your character being picked up and drawn by a lot of artists who are technically better than you in their skills?
a bunch of artists who by all technical accounts, are better skilled than you, picking up your character, and holding you up as a posterchild for inexperienced artists. im not entirely sure i jive with that idea. even if well intentioned, it almost strikes me as being remarkably similar to the idea of making blogs to ridicule artists. youre still holding people up on a pedestal of "look at them". that is a lot of attention to thrust onto someone, especially someone who is probably not used to that kind of thing, good or bad
idunno. i could probably keep going on this but thats what i got so far
