If you are thinking of becoming a project manager I would suggest that you first get to grips with what project management is all about. Once you have an overview of project management and know what the role of a project manager involves you can then start to plan your studies. There was a point in my life where I had no idea what a project manager was. Since then I have managed multiple projects using various methodologies and have written many documents on project management, including e-books, courses and blogs. During my evolution from non-project manager to practising project manager, I have realized the benefits of project management and now have a deep understanding of it. I have also realized on my journey of becoming a project manager that there are many people who think that they know what project management is but in reality do not have a clue. For this reason, I have started this blog to teach people exactly what project management is and demystify some myths and untruths that surround the field. The first question that one would ask is "What is project management?". There is a great online resource that answers many basic questions on project management and covers that very question. We can see that project management is a skill or practice that is required by businesses and organisations that are running a project for a particular reason or to achieve a particular goal. The management of projects has now evolved to become more efficient to ensure that projects have a greater chance of success. This evolution and enhancement of the discipline of project management have come about with the creation of specific methodologies and practices created by project management bodies of knowledge. The main project management methodologies include the likes of PRINCE2, Agile, PMI/PMBOK, Lean, Six Sigma, Kanban, Scrum and Waterfall.
