Welp. Got sick during my first week of Project Thirty Won. Go figure. The nice thing is I inadvertently realized what my first goal should be: Sleep.
I’ve always had a hard time sleeping, even when I was young. I had severe bouts of insomnia in my teens (some of which was brought on by episodes of severe anxiety and other neuroses) and recall getting sleeping pills just to allow myself to rest. It’s gotten better over the years, but I still don’t sleep as much as I should. I know that so many of the issues I hope to overcome are made worse by my lack of sleep, and no matter how well I feel in the morning I still tend to stay up late. Sometimes it to accomplish tasks I don’t get a chance to do during the day, and other times I just try to catch up on video games, shows or podcasts. No matter the “reason”, it’s usually to distract myself from all of my neurotic thoughts that cloud my brain when I do try and lay down to sleep.
So, my goal is to allow myself to try and go to bed by 10pm at least 4 nights this week. I figured this is a reasonable goal that can be maintained in the long term and that I can do with some regularity. Hopefully this helps to make my future goals easier to accomplish.
