wysteria - start.19
Today, you thought everything would change.
It started with the letter you were mailed a short bit after you confirmed your enrollment in Hope’s Peak Academy. Each day until the fated moment you would step onto the glossy steps leading towards the school, various thoughts filled your head about it- a raffle, something called the Tactile Advancement Class. . . Before any of those questions could be answered, you found yourself at the gate towards the monumental building. One of the eighteen students lucky enough to be enrolled in the herald of heralds when it came to success. Hope’s Peak Academy, the gateway to a promising future.
Whatever defined a “promising future” to you likely differed from the others students. However, there was no denying it. A whole new world lay beyond the metal of the doorknob. What will you seek after your course through these corridors? Fame? Fortune? Dreams? There’s a heat coursing through your blood, raising your pulse until you skin feel it against your skin. It’s heavy in your eyes and in your head. A new chapter of your life will open today. Today, you are an SHSL. Today, you are so much more than yesterday. Today, your new life finally begins. With a pounding inside your chest, you decide to open the front doors.
You aren’t fortunate enough to remember them closing.
There’s a wash in your mind, a heavy feeling seated right in your head. It weighs down behind your eyes, right at the bottom of your skull. The air feels as though it’s constricting your chest, saturated with some sort of ominous presence. Just like that, your body feels electrified, suddenly jolting into complete awareness. You’re not at the gates- quite frankly, you’re nowhere. Nowhere you know of, at least. You awaken seated perfectly in a student’s desk as if you had simply nodded off during class. Had you? It’s hard, no, impossible to recall anything post opening the door. Had anything even happened? Was your approach to the school’s pearly gates nothing but a mirage?
That ominous feeling must have been stirred up by the next thing you notice: a lack of eyes on you. The classroom is completely devoid of any life save for you, absent from the bustling and busy life of school. When you leave your desk, your analysis is quickly redone, however. There’s perhaps one or two students in the same room either awake or asleep. Perhaps more had already left the very same classroom. There’s no windows whatsoever that aren’t covered by metal platings, and the only exit in front of you is a wooden door. Feelings must be rushing up one after the other. With the door as your only way outside and the only way to figure out where you are, it’s your decision. Do you stay there and wait for others to wake up? Or do you attempt to solve the mystery and head outside? The choice seems to be entirely yours.
. . .
That is, until a strange sound crackles through from above. . .
