Simple activity promoting independence: Another simple and easy way to include your child in the kitchen is to boil some eggs and let them stand and peel them. It is a great activity for fine motor skills and for hand eye coordination. It builds independence in your toddler and they also learn that they can contribute to a meal. You can also substitute the egg for a mandarin or easy to peel orange 🍊 🥚 I love finding ways to let Mali be included in helping in the kitchen. It teaches her life skills and let’s her build on her innate skills which is inside each and every child. It’s also a lovely time to discuss where food comes from and we often talk about the market we attend each week to buy our food. Click our story to watch Mali peeling the egg. It’s fascinating to watch as when she started she use to peel little bits at a time and has now become quite proficient at it.
