(A) Louis/Character B are uni roommates
(B) Louis/Greg James - Louis takes Clifford to a secluded park and lets him run free for a few hours. A few weeks into going to a park, a friendly dog (Barney) Louis assumes is a stray comes over by him with a stick in his mouth and Louis plays fetch. This becomes a Thing every time. Louis notices Clifford has been gaining weight and can’t figure out why. One day, Clifford doesn’t come back like he usually does. Louis goes looking for him with (Barney) trailing on his heels. He’s just about to give up when (Barney) sprints away and Louis can’t stand the thought of losing two dogs in one day so he runs after him. Cut to…Louis finding a very tall, very handsome man, very excitedly welcoming Barney back with Clifford barely looking up from the almost gone bucket of dog food said very (very) handsome man clearly brought to the park. Confusion ensues since each thinks the other’s dog was a stray. Wild accusations from Louis about Greg making Clifford fat, jokes from Greg about how Barney has taken up finding perfect sticks and running away with his best one. They fall in love and become one big happy family.
( C ) Louis/Character B are musicians vying for the role of band leader at their former high school. They went there at the same time and were rivals then too, though for a totally different reason: they both had secret crushes on one another. When I've of them learns this, it changes everything.
(D) Girl direction! Louis/Character B are star athletes on the college (you choose the) sport team. They're both on the butch side, and it takes them a while to figure out that they're into one another and don't need to femme it up to get the other to like them.
(E) Omegaverse: Alpha Louis has never questioned who he is, a strong Alpha loving Alpha who defies stereotypes. When he meets character B, a beta, he certainly doesn't expect to fall for him (and hard)
(F) Famous Louis returns to his home town for his sister's wedding. When he sees his non-famous ex-boyfriend at the first wedding event of the weekend, sparks fly. Cue a whirlwind romance and a lot of big decisions about what they're both willing to do for love.
(G) Louis is a werewolf who's gotten good at hiding his nature in order to make a quiet life for himself in a small town. Character B is the vampire whose arrival coincides with a couple of murders that threaten his peaceful existence. When it becomes clear that B isn't behind the murders, he and Louis team up to find the real culprit (and maybe accidently fall in love along the way).
(H) Louis/Liam - Bros who get married for insurance purposes and then decide divorce isn’t worth the hassle.
(i) Louis/Charlie Lightening…no plot but sex on the ping pong table. Obviously.
(J) Louis and his bandmates/opening band let off some steam by having a circle jerk. It might turn into more for some of them.
(K) Girl direction! Louis and character B are star athletes on the college (you choose the) sport team. They're both on the butch side, and it takes them a while to figure out that they're into one another and don't need to femme it up to get the other to like them.
(L) M/M Louis and Taylor Swift are rival quarterbacks for their town's 2 high school teams. Nobody knows that they've been secretly dating since sharing a NYE kiss.
(M) Louis/Liam - everyone thinks Louis and Harry are together but it’s actually Louis and Liam
(N) Lilo hot water maintenance au based on this tumblr post
(O) Lilo Robin Hood AU
(P) Lilo Howl’s Moving Castle au
(Q) Louis and either Charlie or Nick from Heartstopper (the Netflixshow), friendship fic. Would love Louis either helping Nick through his sexuality crisis or Louis being there for Charlie through the events of the first season
(R) Omegaverse: Louis is about to turn 25 without having presented. As he debates undergoing the risky process to force a presentation, he meets Character B who helps him realize he doesn't necessarily have to "present" to be the alpha he know he is. (Omegaverse but make it trans and powerful!!)
(S) Person A falls in love with his gym bro, Louis based on this post
(T) Louis plays on the uni football team and Liam is on the athletics team. they pass each other to and from training all the time. cue attraction. they are or become friends and are secretly pining for a while before they eventually start dating
(U) Edwardian era Lilo au where they’re both working class. maybe one is a servant and one is a shop assistant, or both servants.
(V) Louis and David Dawson bond over their time with Harry
(W) Louis/Oscar Isaac- edwardian AU where Oscar is a poet and Louis is his muse
(X) Louis/Pedro Pascal AU where Louis is exploring in the arctic and needs a guide
(Y) Louis/Pedro Pascal Gladiator AU
(Z) Michael B. Jordan as a boxer and nurse Louis
(AA) Louis/Sebastian Stan arranged marriage royalty AU. Louis is betrothed to King Sebastian Stan, a widower with two kids who aren't to keen of the King's fiancé.
(BB) Louis/Sam Claflin - something based on the interview where Sam says Louis follows him on Twitter and that they've had a conversation but he doesn't want to get into it.
(CC) 27 dresses take off where Niall is always the best man, never the husband, and Louis is the snarky reporter.
(DD) Zouiam, uni AU - Zayn meets Liam at the library and falls halfway in love during a single conversation. It’s a fairy tale, only back home is Louis - his FWB, the most important person in Zayn’s life, and someone who doesn’t take well to losing out on attention. Louis' a bit put out when he meets Liam at football practice and this annoying, bossy, fit as all hell guy slides right in under all his defences. It could be the start of a beautiful term of fighting and fucking, only back home is Zayn. Zayn not only needs Louis - he’d become a full-time hermit otherwise - but it’s damn convenient having sex on tap right there in his own flat. And, oh yeah, Zayn’s like, his reflection or his shadow or his other half or something. Liam’s quite confused by having two drop dead gorgeous guys alternately sending him go signals, then just as quickly, stop. He figures if either of them settle on go, he’ll be batting a thousand. Then he realises they know each other. Biblically.
(EE) Louis is an actor in a murder mystery troupe. Character B (maybe Nick Grimshaw...?) is the audience member who’s clearly too cool for all this but giving joining in his best shot anyway. Louis is distracted by him all night, and then after the denouement they meet in the bar.
(FF) Louis/Greg James - Louis won’t stop whanging on about not getting to do the breakfast show with his new album, and character X (maybe Niall, or Oli?) eventually realises it's less career-related jealousy and more about who sits behind the mic. He hatches a matchmaking plan.
(GG) Louis/Zayn/Liam - something soft, canon and present day. Maybe Louis comes home to them after being away on tour. Lots of domesticity.
(HH) Character B joins local amateur dramatics society and suddenly Louis is no longer a shoo-in for every lead role. Cue the drama!
(ii) AU. Preschool teacher Louis / Boxer Sebastian Stan
(JJ) Yellowjackets AU! Girl direction, any pairing from the show, cutting from 1996 to present.

From the Blue Mood Board:
Fishermen H&L
Louis and Harry have grown up in the same small fishing town their whole lives, both knowing since they were kids that the ocean is where they would end up – and now they’re each successful fishermen in their own right. They’ve also been best friends as long as Louis can remember, supporting each other in their careers, spending every minute they’re on dry land together. Except Louis’ deeply in love with Harry, and too afraid to tell him. But one weekend, after a routine run for both of them – Harry’s boat doesn’t make it back to the harbor, and Louis gets word that there was a bad storm on his route, and nobody knows where they are. Louis puts aside everything, not even stopping to sleep, and heads back out on the water to find Harry, to help him get home – and he hopes with everything in him that Harry is safe, that he hasn’t lost his best friend, that he didn’t miss his chance to admit to Harry how much he loves him.
Scientists H&L
Louis took this assignment at the North Pole knowing full well he’d be stuck in the middle of nowhere for months, without his family or friends, without access to easy communication, and he was FINE with it. He was fine, that is, until he found out another scientific research team sent someone along to assist with his work – someone who’s tall, and broad, and sweet, and exactly Louis’ type. And shit, Louis isn’t supposed to fall for Harry, he’s supposed to be working with him, gathering data in a professional, totally platonic, manner. And he can do this, he can be the picture of professionalism. But maybe sometimes they share some drinks and get a little buzzed on cold nights and end up flirting, or teasing, or… snuggling in a single bed? Louis can’t even bring himself to feel sorry, because it’s VERY COLD HERE and Harry makes a nice heater to cuddle next to.
Restaurant Owner Harry, Health Inspector Louis
Harry has just accomplished what he’s always dreamed of – he’s opened his own French restaurant, and so far it’s going incredibly well. His life is finally falling into place, and the customers are lined up out the door, except – one day he gets a notice in the mail that the health inspector will be by to give them a grade. And Harry’s nervous because his friends tell him the health inspector is ancient, and a hardass, and he’s sweating through his chef’s jacket on the day the guy walks through the door and – wait. This guy isn’t ancient. In fact he’s young, and incredibly hot, and he says his name is Louis, and he’s bantering with Harry as he walks around with him, making jokes about shutting him down, but Harry’s too nervous (and now too flustered) to say anything. So Louis gets all apologetic, thinking he’s truly made Harry uncomfortable, and then he’s gone (after giving the place a resounding A grade). Once Harry regains his composure, he tries to find excuses to see Louis again. New, hip restaurants subject themselves to optional health inspections AT LEAST once a week in this day and age… right? (And if Louis is confused why Harry keeps asking him to come back and “Just make sure things are tip-top”, he doesn’t say anything about it.)
Exes to Lovers
Everything feels bleak since Harry left. Louis knows that it must have been for the best, it had to have been, because this existence he’s been living ever since they split feels cold, and dark, and overwhelming – he has to believe that there’s some purpose to this breakup, or he’ll lose his mind. He feels like he’s on autopilot: he wakes up thinking about Harry, he goes to work and thinks about Harry, he goes to bed wishing Harry was there. It gets harder and harder to rationalize their split, and when Harry shows up at his door one dark, cold night, he doesn’t even think twice about inviting him inside. Turns out Harry’s been feeling the depth of this breakup just as much as Louis, but how do they move forward when they’ve both been so hurt?
Meet Cute
Louis just moved to town, and on his first Saturday there he goes to check out the local farmers market. He notices a sign advertising blueberries that reads “These are BERRY sweet”, in intricate lettering. He starts to roll his eyes fondly, until he sees the person running the booth – holy shit, are people who work at farmers markets allowed to be that fit? He’s too nervous to say anything to the hot vendor, but he comes back every weekend and subtly walks by slowly sometimes (he’s pretty sure he’s caught the guy checking him out too). Until one day, he finds the perfect opportunity – the signs the guy displays change every weekend, each one a goofy play on fruit or vegetable names, and this weekend there’s one next to the tomatoes that says “You’ll love these from your head TOMATOES”. Louis can’t believe his luck, and he marches right up to the man (who introduces himself in a deep, deep voice as ‘Harry’), and asks “I’ll love these from MY head to YOUR toes?” Harry is flustered, and endearing, and they end up chatting all afternoon about puns, and produce, and possibly a date.
Established Relationship
What Harry and Louis need is a VACATION. They’ve barely seen one another in the past month, hurried goodbye kisses in the morning while they each run off to their stressful, demanding jobs. They both agree that a weekend in the middle of nowhere – no cell phones, no work obligations, nothing but the two of them – will be perfect. And it is… for about six hours. But it turns out beautiful cabins in the middle of nowhere with no WiFi and nothing interesting within driving distance are… insanely boring. But neither of them wants to admit that, so they each pretend to be having the time of their life. They snuggle on the couch, and they play the same ancient board game ten times because it’s the only one in the closet, and little by little they start to forget about missing their phones, or the fact that there’s no Netflix, and by the end of the night they’re happily slow dancing in the living room (after maybe a few too many drinks), trading soft kisses and I love yous while it starts to quietly snow outside.
Pride/Tumblr AU
Harry just came out this year, and while he’s incredibly happy, he still feels like he wants to celebrate it in a BIG way. He takes to his Tumblr (where he’s found an incredible support system of anonymous LGBT friends), and sends a plea looking for someone, anyone, to road trip with him to San Francisco to attend his first Pride parade. Expecting that most people will just think he’s nuts, he resigns himself to going alone, until he gets a message in the middle of the night from someone who just goes by “Tommo”, someone he’s talked to off and on since he came out, encouraging him, and congratulating him, and agreeing to go on the road trip. Harry’s excited, and incredibly nervous, to spend nearly a week in the car with a complete and total stranger. He’s hemming and hawing the entire drive to their meet-up point about turning around and calling it off. What if they don’t get along? What if they have different music tastes? What if- oh fuck. This guy (turns out his real name is Louis), is not only hot as shit, he’s a perfect road trip partner. They spend the next week making their way across the country, belting out their favorite songs, swapping funny stories from their childhoods, but the best part – at nights in quiet, cheap motel rooms, Harry will whisper about his fears of coming out, his hopes for this trip, and Louis is right there to reassure him that he’s not alone. By the time they reach San Francisco, Harry’s not even close to ready to say goodbye.
Coworkers AU
Louis’ worked at the same factory for years, and while he can’t say it’s his dream job, it pays the bills. He normally just goes to work, jokes around with his friends there, clocks out when he can, keeps his head down. But then Harry starts working there, this new guy who has this passion for life, for everything around him – and seems to be able to turn even mundane factory work into the best and funniest thing Louis’ ever experienced. Louis starts showing up to work early to have coffee with Harry in the break room, scheming with Harry to prank their coworkers, staying late just so that he can walk Harry to his car. All Louis’ friends give him a hard time about it, but he’s too enamored to even care. He’s sure (well pretty sure) that Harry might have a crush on him too, but he’s terrified he could be wrong. So he keeps spending all his free time at work with him, flirting as much as he can, and hoping that Harry will be the one to break the tension and finally ask him out.
Strangers to Lovers
Louis is loving spending his vacation at this all-inclusive resort, except for one thing: every single cabana on the beach looks identical, and there’s about a million of them, and he keeps ending up in the wrong one. One morning, he’s sure he’s gotten it right, spending the first hour reading, soaking up the sun, and falling asleep in his chair. Until he’s gently awoken by a nervous clearing of a throat, and green eyes, and pink lips, and a naked torso covered in tattoos. Harry apologetically lets Louis know he’s in the wrong place, but when Louis tries to leave, Harry nervously stumbles over the suggestion that maybe they could just share for the day?
From the Books Mood Board:
Librarian Harry
Harry loves his job at the library, but he would be lying if he said he never got a little… bored. That is until Louis starts frequenting his branch and taking full advantage of Harry’s extensive knowledge of all things research related. Harry assumes Louis is just in a unique field of study, until it becomes painfully obvious that Louis long ago ran out of legitimate material to look up. But Harry’s never had such a good time at work, so he doesn’t say anything – even when Louis requests information on things like medieval furniture, the history of nudist colonies, or beekeeping in the 21st century.
Strangers to Lovers
Louis’ neighborhood bookstore has recently implemented a “Take One, Leave One” program, and Louis is delighted when the first book he finds is by his absolute favorite author. Wanting to return the favor to his mystery donor, he leaves the newest release of said author in its stead. When he returns the next week, the book is gone only to be replaced by another fantastic option – with a little note slipped in the front cover that reads simply “Loved your suggestion, hope you enjoy this one. –H xx”. Wondering who this mysterious H is, Louis continues to leave books (complete with their own increasingly flirty notes) over the next few weeks, until one day he comes to find his newest option includes a note that simply reads “Meet here Friday evening, 6 PM?”
Book Shop Owner Harry, Customer Louis
The truth is that Louis doesn’t frequent this secondhand bookshop for the inventory alone. The first time he came in here, looking for an obscure book for a friend, he was pleasantly surprised to find the owner was charming, helpful, and fit as hell. After that, he really couldn’t help but stop by every so often. Who was he to say no when Harry would light up at his entrance, and point out books he thought Louis might love, a gentle hand on his lower back to guide him? Louis was only human, after all. Maybe Louis’ living room is now stacked, almost floor to ceiling, in secondhand novels he hasn’t touched. But it’s all in the name of potential love, right?
Meet Cute
Louis enjoys his walks to and from work every day where he gets to see the hustle and bustle of downtown. One day, he passes by the local museum where the sidewalk out front is packed with books, people browsing them randomly. He would walk right by if it wasn’t for the cute man yelling to pedestrians about the free book sale – “The museum is getting rid of these! They need a good home! You look like you’re interested in paleontology!” Louis can’t help but chuckle at his enthusiasm, until said man hones in on him. Despite his initial protests, Louis can’t help but be mesmerized by the charm of the museum worker, who introduces himself as Harry. And somehow Louis walks away with his arms stacked full of various reference books, a promise to return for more tomorrow, and a phone number hastily scribbled on his arm.
Vacation AU
Harry just wanted to come to the beach and check a few books off his To-Read list. That was his only plan: sit in the sun, in paradise, and get through some best sellers. And it goes well for the first day or two, until he’s distracted by the loud and extremely charming man named Louis in the cabana next to his who just can’t help but comment on Harry’s “poor choices” of reading material. At first it’s frustrating, until Harry finds himself laughing harder than he can remember and hoping that Louis will be there every morning he heads out to the beach, even if it means forgetting the books for a while.
Established Relationship AU
When Harry and Louis move in together, they couldn’t be more excited. In combining all their belongings, Louis notices that Harry takes special care to display his antique books in their office, giving them special treatment on the shelves. He doesn’t have many, but he’s proud of them. Louis can’t help but fall a little more in love with how special and interesting Harry is, so he sets out to add to his collection. Birthdays, anniversaries, even random Tuesdays become reasons for Louis to gift Harry with rare and collectible books he’s scoured the internet for. Harry is over the moon, adding to their shared collection, showing them off to friends whenever he can. One day, they’re lounging around the office, and Louis picks a book up off the shelf and asks Harry what it’s about. Harry freezes, and gets a deer in the headlights look on his face. Louis becomes suspicious, picking up book after book to ask Harry about the plot, the author, anything. “You’re telling me, Harold, that I’ve been buying you rare and ancient books for months, and you haven’t read a single one of these?”
Time Travel AU
Louis notices all his new customers, without fail. He wouldn’t be an excellent barista without noticing the regulars from the newest patrons. But he can’t help but be fascinated by the newest arrival – without fail, every day, the same man starts coming into the shop. He’s dressed oddly, and always orders plain black tea to sit in the corner with and pore over a notebook he seems to write meticulously in. They make occasional flirty eye contact, and exchange some shy smiles, but never say much to each other. Louis’ curiosity gets the best of him, because this man never reaches for a phone, and uses strange colloquialisms that Louis can’t figure out. One day, when the man excuses himself for a moment, Louis takes a tiny peak into said notebook for half a second – but he can’t look away when he reads the entry that says “31 May 1902/31 May 2017 – A weeks’ worth of study in this time has elicited no further answers to my quest. I fear I must return to my own time soon, but am compelled to remain by the enticing young man in the local coffee house.”

Author Louis, Author Harry
Louis has found moderate success in his sci-fi series, but he can’t seem to break into the best-sellers list like Harry Styles has. And if you ask Louis, that’s just unacceptable. What does this Harry Styles have that he doesn’t? Every time he goes into his local book shop and sees Harry’s book on the front shelf (and his in the reduced price section) he gets a little bit angrier at this mysterious author who never puts a picture of himself in his bio sections. Until one day, the bookstore hosts a reading by the man himself, and Louis is determined to go and prove once and for all that Harry is nothing special. But then he shows up and, damn it. Harry Styles is fit, and charming, and… when Louis introduces himself, Harry begins to gush over his series, quoting Louis’ own lines back at him. And when Harry asks Louis to grab a coffee with him, well, it would be rude to say no. Right?
Witch Harry (Based on the Far Afield universe by QuickedWeen/becomeawendybird)
Harry’s not the only witch around with their own shop, and when he brings Louis to his friend’s magical bookstore, Louis is amazed. Despite Harry begging Louis not to touch anything, his curiosity gets the best of him – there’s just too many ancient and fascinating books not to open just one. Unfortunately, doing so unleashes some pretty powerful magic, and Louis begs Harry to save the lecture for later because currently, they both need to focus on containing whatever it is Louis has just released on the city.
From the Doors Mood Board:
Secret Garden AU
Louis is spending the summer with Niall’s family in Ireland, but one day he wanders a little far from their large estate. He’s mesmerized by a locked, ivy-covered door he finds hidden among tall, overgrown bushes. When he tries to ask Niall about it, he gets scolded and told never to go back there. Unfortunately, Louis is nothing if not dangerously curious, so he continues his pursuit of the mysterious place. He finds himself at the nearly-abandoned mansion of Harry Styles, a recluse that nobody has seen in years. Despite Harry’s attempts to scare Louis away, he keeps showing up every day – asking about what’s behind the door, sneaking around Harry’s house in search of clues, and unlocking little pieces of Harry’s guarded heart.
Neighbors AU
Louis hasn’t met his new neighbor yet, even though it’s been weeks since someone moved in to the identical flat next door. What he has learned, however, is that this neighbor seems intent on proving his or her worthiness to Louis in the form of gifts on his front step: baked goods (‘because I had extra!’), small trinkets (‘thought this was cool’), even a lone flower taped to the door with a note that said ‘just appreciating the beauty around here’. Each note is only signed with “-your neighbor. xx” Louis chalks it up to an overly friendly (and possibly lonely) elderly woman. One night, Louis goes out to a club where he meets Harry – incredibly gorgeous, can’t-believe-his-luck, Harry. They mutually decide to leave together, and imagine Louis’ surprise when the taxi pulls up in front of Louis’ own door. Cue some mild confusion and cute realizations.
Firefighter H+L
Louis has been in love with fellow fireman Harry Styles since the day they first met. But he’s not willing to risk his professional relationships for the sake of his (huge, overwhelming, all-consuming) crush. So he settles for just being Harry’s friend, even though there’s somethingthere – the way Harry looks at him sometimes, it’s hard to ignore. One day there’s a call the whole company responds too, and as Louis and others gather outside, they realize Harry hasn’t emerged yet, and they fear the worst. Louis is inconsolable, blind with grief. When Harry finally gets out, shaken but unharmed, Louis doesn’t even hesitate to run to him and kiss him as soon as the mask comes off. He never would have forgiven himself if he didn’t get the chance to do that, and when he tells Harry exactly that, Harry says “I never would have forgiven you either, Lou” and proceeds to kiss him again (and their coworkers expected them to fall in love, so they’re happy for them and all, but are incredibly concerned that they’re making out while a fire still rages on).
Pediatrician Louis
When Harry’s niece gets sick while Gemma’s out of town, he panics – he’s so not equipped to handle this kind of situation, and Gemma’s not answering her phone, and what does he do? Luckily, there’s a number on the fridge for a Dr. Tomlinson, and when Harry calls it he’s directed to the office where his niece’s doctor will see them immediately. He’s charmed by the building, a brightly colored place with animal accents, but he’s even more charmed by the handsome doctor that walks into the room as his niece is being held in Harry’s arms. The doctor (“Call me Louis,” he says as he shakes Harry’s hand, and Harry feels an electric buzz run through him) assures Harry that everything is fine, it’s probably just a cold, but why don’t we see about getting you some cough medicine to help. Harry leaves with a happier niece in tow, a few lollipops for the road, and a very cute doctor’s number in his pocket.
Shopkeeper H+L
All Louis wanted to do was sell good food to good people and live on the beach. That’s all he wanted. Is that too much to ask for? Apparently it is, because one Harry Styles decided that what was needed next door to a seafood restaurant was an artisanal gift shop specializing in homemade crafts. Louis didn’t even know that was a thing until Harry moved in, but apparently it is. And then he painted his portion of the building pink. Pink! And he insisted on painting the divider both colors because “Isn’t it adorable, Lou?” and apparently he calls Louis ‘Lou’ now, and he’s driving Louis insane. And Louis tells Harry that every morning, at 8 AM on the dot when he stops by Harry’s shop. And Harry just smiles and gives Louis a trinket that “reminded me of you, Lou”, and Louis rolls his eyes and places it carefully in his office with his stash of other Harry-trinkets. And this continues on until Louis’ best friend Liam visits and casually points out to him that Louis is definitely in love with Harry Styles.

Established Relationship Fic
Everything about Louis and Harry’s new dream house is perfect, except for one giant, annoying, yellow problem –the front door. Harry had fallen in love with it immediately, had even joked that it was the reason he wanted the house in the first place. But Louis can’t stand it. He hates how it taunts him when he comes home from work in the evenings, all cheery and bright with no right to be. Harry laughs at his grump face every time he brings it up, but Louis swears he’s going to do something about it. And he does – one day when Harry’s off running errands, Louis paints the door a nice, subtle black. And when Harry comes home, instead of the compliments (or at least whiny complaints) Louis expected, Harry is silent. Like… weirdly silent. Talking-about-everything-else-under-the-sun-BUT-the-door silent. And Louis can’t figure it out. Until he wakes up the next morning and THE DOOR IS YELLOW AGAIN. And… oh really? This is how Harry wants to play it? Because Louis can do that. Louis can definitely win this fight.
Small Town AU/Slow Burn Fic
Louis never expected to be moving back home when he was almost thirty, but when your family needs you – well, what else could he have done? If only people would quit stopping him on the street and commenting on how long it’s been since they’ve seen him. Ten years isn’t exactly a lifetime, he doesn’t know why people are making a big deal out of it. And why do people keep referencing the Styles boy? He knows their farm took some hard hits in the past decade, but he was pretty sure their son Harry up and left just like any young person would have – just like Louis did. One night, though, he runs into said Styles boy in the local bar, and he can’t believe how much he’s changed. In an attempt to spend more time with him, Louis offers to give a hand to Harry on the farm. A terrible idea in general, seeing as Louis has never operated a tractor nor tended livestock in his life. But he shows up every morning that he’s able, and Harry’s always there with a kind smile and a few rambling stories. And Louis is definitely half in love with him already. If only he could figure out how Harry felt about him…
Travel AU
Louis didn’t know that he would adjust so well to hostel living, but apparently it suits him. It’s been five weeks, and he still hasn’t gotten tired of this whole ‘backpacking around Europe’ thing. This newest hostel he’s just plopped his bag down in is okay, not the greatest, but at least it’s quiet. But maybe he spoke too soon because immediately after lying down, three loud people enter the room and take up residence as well. And normally Louis would be able to ignore them, but one of them (Harry, he hears another call him) is incredibly good looking, and Louis has always been a sucker for pretty boys in strange countries. So he goes against everything he’s told himself (about being independent, about sticking to himself) and somehow manages to tag along with these three friends as they make their way around this new city. And maybe it’s just him, but there seems to be something buzzing between him and Harry. But as the night wears on, maybe it’s not just him that notices it, because suddenly the two other friends have disappeared, conveniently leaving Harry and Louis all to themselves. And… this could be the most interesting stop he’s had on his travels so far.
Love Actually AU/Prime Minister Harry
Harry is having a hard time adjusting to his new role as Prime Minister, but at least he gets a sweet new place to live in the deal. It even comes with its very own staff, which happens to include the most attractive man Harry has ever laid eyes on. Hoping against hope that said man might have a terrible personality (thereby eliminating any potential awkwardness of Harry developing an inappropriate crush on him), he’s sorely disappointed when he finds that this Louis (his new personal assistant – of course) is not only gorgeous, he’s sweet and attentive and funny. Harry’s never laughed so much in his life. And Louis is always there with Harry’s favorite sweets and a joke or two when Harry’s having a shit day. And this just can’t happen – Harry can’t lose his job over an infatuation. So he does the most cowardly thing he’s ever done – he has Louis’ position reassigned. And he pouts. And pines over just how much he misses him. But when he finds a Christmas card mixed in with the others that has Louis sweetly admitting how much of his heart belongs to Harry, he knows he made a terrible mistake. He abuses his power (just a tiny bit!) to find Louis’ address, and he dashes off to find him and make things right.
From the Mural Mood Board:
Exes to Lovers Fic
Louis knew this was a bad idea, knew it from the very second Harry Styles had walked into that bar, but he couldn’t take it back now. Being tangled up in bed with Harry was better than he remembered, but the sinking feeling in his gut was something he couldn’t ignore. Harry was being his usual self, ignoring the conversation they needed to have, and it was making something ugly twist inside Louis’ heart. Harry was rambling on about needing to get out of bed, get the day started, when Louis couldn’t contain it anymore. “Are you even sorry?” Harry looked taken aback, but Louis barreled on. “You left, Harry. You left and you didn’t say a word. And now you’re back, and it’s like you don’t even care that you broke everything inside me that day.”
Backpacking AU
Louis has been looking forward to this portion of the trip all summer. He and Niall have spent weeks in and out of hostels all around Europe, but they were finally going to get a home-cooked meal and a real bed when they visited Niall’s home country. Except Niall neglects to tell him that his best friend from childhood, Harry, will be joining them on the rest of their journey. Louis can’t believe Niall would fail to mention that a complete stranger was now going to be accompanying them on their trip, but he stops his complaining once he meets him. Louis’ spent the past three weeks talking nonstop, pulling pranks on Niall, and generally being a nuisance – but suddenly he’s quiet, letting Harry ramble on about the most mundane things. And really, Niall thinks, what in the fresh hell is happening to Louis?
Zookeeper Harry
Louis can’t believe what he’s seeing right now. Is that… a man cuddling with a grown bear? A real life, honest to God grizzly bear – and it’s acting like a contented puppy, getting belly rubs from a guy who’s using baby talk to communicate with it. Louis did not think when he brought his siblings to the zoo that he would be witnessing something as odd as this. He tries to move on from it, but Ernie and Doris beg him to go to the Q&A session with the “bear man”, and suddenly he’s front row listening to this Harry Styles wax poetic about the beautiful mysteries of wildlife. Louis’ too enthralled in watching Harry’s mouth to really pay attention, but that comes back to bite him when Harry asks him a question in front of twenty other audience members. Shit, Louis really should not have come to the zoo today.
Future AU
Nobody goes outside anymore. If it wasn’t for the radiation that physically prevented it, it would just be deemed ‘obsolete’ anyway. People can get exactly what they need from the comfort of their own residence pods. And relationships are no different – link up to another person’s holochrome, and it’s like being with them. Except Louis doesn’t want to just pretend to be with someone, watching them from a screen. He wants to touch someone, he wants to feel the embrace of someone he loves. And he’s not alone – there’s a growing movement online of people fighting back against the norm. So while Louis sits alone in the middle of the city, there’s a kind and gentle stranger named Harry who lives hundreds of miles away that fills Louis’ nights with his slow, syrupy voice. All Louis wants in the whole world now is to be able to reach out and touch him.
Photographer Harry
Harry’s worked with his fair share of divas, but this woman in front of him certainly takes the cake. Never before has he rolled his eyes so much during a shoot. If it wasn’t for this actress’ fit-as-fuck assistant, Harry probably would have taken off by now without so much as a goodbye. As it stood, though, her PA Louis had been shooting apologetic glances at him all morning, lessening the burden of her attitude with hilarious quips and quiet asides meant only for Harry. He found himself distracted by him, focusing less on the woman in front of him and more on the blue-eyed boy off to the side of the room. What finally does it is her offensive comments about the people working for her, Louis included, and Harry sighs deeply before announcing that he’s finished. He’s finished with this shoot, and with her, and he’s off to the nearest bar (that one two blocks down, the dodgy one with the great pizza?) if anyone would like to join him. He can’t help it if he raises his voice and directs his gaze at Louis specifically before storming out of the studio.
Famous/Non-Famous AU
Harry is Tommo’s absolute number one fan, cataloguing every graffiti piece and mural he sprays up around the city without fail. It’s pushed Harry’s Instagram followers into the tens of thousands, and he spends much of his time debating with others online about what message Tommo might be trying to convey this time. The one, tiny problem Harry has is that he has absolutely no idea who Tommo could be – no one does. The mysterious artist never shows himself to anyone, never leaving traces or hints about his identity. Until one night Harry is walking his usual route alone, camera in tow, and he stumbles upon the enigma himself marking up an empty wall. And why, why, does the object of Harry’s artistic fascination also have to be the fittest guy he’s ever seen?
Astronaut H+L
Louis is so tired of Golden Boy Harry Styles always one upping him. As if being an astronaut wasn’t enough, Harry also had to be part of a dynasty – the fourth man in his family to go to space. What was so great about that anyway? Louis was just as good (if not better!) at his job than this lanky, dimpled dude. And to make matters worse, there’s no escaping him – they’re the only two people on this year long mission in space. He tries to ignore him as best he can, until he catches Harry sniffling in his bunk one night. And… what? The Golden Boy himself, crying about being homesick, and about being scared, and about how Louis hates him… oh. Louis didn’t mean to hurt his feelings (how was he supposed to know Harry was so sensitive?). And if Louis starts sleeping in Harry’s bunk with him at night, cuddling him when things become too overwhelming, it’s not like it means anything. It doesn’t.
Pleasantville AU
Of all the shit that Liam Payne has put Louis through, this is hands down the absolute worst. His best friend has sucked him into a black and white television show, and Liam is excited about it? All Louis can do is whine and beg Liam to help them get home, until he meets Harry – Pleasantville’s resident boy-next-door. And despite Liam’s pleas for Louis not to get involved, well… if he’s going to be stuck here, he might as well have some fun right? It’s not his fault things start popping into color as soon as he and Harry kiss for the first time. Definitely not his fault.
Historical AU (1800s)
All Louis has known his entire life is struggle – struggle to find work, struggle to keep it, struggle to help his family stay afloat. He breaks his back daily in the shipyard toiling away on steam engines that will carry rich people away from here. He used to allow himself to dream, but not anymore. That is until the son of the shipyard’s foreman starts coming around. Louis can’t wrap his mind around someone like Harry: young, carefree, happy. He’s spiteful towards him, but Harry won’t give up this persistent quest to befriend Louis for some reason. And little by little he tries to show Louis the parts of himself he’s all but forgotten: the parts that still yearn for something good and lovely.
From the Las Vegas Mood Board:
“Oops We Got Married” AU
It all started with a few too many shots and ended with Louis drunkenly betting Harry to marry him – apparently “You won’t” is enough incentive for both of them, because now they’re at a rundown motel with a 24 hour chapel, and they’re giggling and kissing in the pews as they wait their turn. Except Louis sort of lost his buzz an hour or so ago, but he’s too afraid to say anything. Where does ‘marrying your best friend under false pretenses’ fall in terms of moral ambiguity? (Louis almost calls it off right then and there, until Harry admits he’s also dead sober, but… why not go home with one hell of a story anyway?)
Bachelor Party AU
Harry and Louis decided the best plan for their joint bachelor party was a boys’ night out in Vegas. Except now Niall is missing, Liam is drunkenly belting out show tunes everywhere they go, and Harry won’t stop crying over how excited he is to be Mr. Tomlinson. Apparently Louis is the only one who can hold his liquor, and he’s going to need to be the one to come up with a plan to get the Irish one back. If only he could remember where they left him…
Friends to Lovers AU
Harry has wanted to go to Paris and see the Eiffel Tower for as long as Louis has known him. Living in LA, it’s a bit more difficult to get there than Harry would like, but he has his heart set on it. Having loved Harry in secret for a very long time, Louis wants nothing more than to make Harry smile. So, one day he tells Harry to pack a bag and they climb into Louis’ car for a road trip. By that evening, they’re approaching the lights of Vegas, and although Harry is confused he’s still excited. It isn’t until Louis is bringing him to the top of the tower’s observation deck that he realizes how far Louis has gone to make his wish come true.
Thief Louis AU
Harry has only been working at this casino for a month when he starts to notice him – the handsome and incredibly charismatic patron that frequents Harry’s area of the floor. The man (Louis, Harry finds out) never stays long at a table, but he always seems to do incredibly well. If only it wasn’t for the massive crush that Harry’s harboring, he might not have ever noticed the patterns that were emerging – namely, why this Louis fellow does things like check his watch in sync with the security guards movements. And if only Harry hadn’t been half in love with him already, he would have never followed him into that back hallway and noticed him breaking into the safe. If only, right?
Tourists AU
Harry has been meticulously planning their Vegas trip for months, promising Louis every step of the way that he’s absolutely going to love it. Louis can’t wait to gamble, drink, and fall into bed with Harry at 4 in the morning every night. So imagine his shock when their first day is spent at the fossil museum, followed by a trip to the Pawn Stars’ shop, and ending with a Blue Man Group show. Louis doesn’t say anything, figuring it was a fluke – but they proceed to spend every single day of their vacation like that. Louis is simultaneously incredibly confused and incredibly endeared by Harry’s excitement over things like a walking tour of the Zappos headquarters. But he can’t bring himself to say anything when Harry will excitedly squeeze his hand, or kiss his cheek and say “I love this”. Louis will just have to casually insert himself into trip planning next time.
Bartender Louis
It’s the middle of the day, and Harry is drunk. He’s not quite sure how it happened (okay, maybe his sister’s bachelorette week in Vegas is turning out be a little more than he can handle), but all he needs is a glass of water and maybe a quiet place to hang out for a bit. Plus he’s lost the bridal party somewhere a few blocks back, so he figures it can’t hurt to sit in this empty restaurant for a few minutes to collect himself. Except then he meets the funniest, cutest bartender he’s ever seen – which he proceeds to proclaim to the man’s face excitedly. Luckily, the bartender Louis is very understanding, and very willing to let Harry sober up a bit in his presence. He even laughs at Harry’s jokes, which is a solid plus. And when Harry finally gets a call from Gemma demanding that he come back to the hotel, Harry even leaves with Louis’ number in his pocket, written hastily on a bar napkin.
Strangers to Lovers
Nobody would ride the High Roller with Louis, which is fine – he’s totally fine going on his own. Except now he’s standing next to it and looking up and, damn that’s higher than he thought. He mentions this offhandedly to the person next to him in line, and the guy introduces himself as Harry – who then proceeds to confess to Louis how scared of heights he is, how terrified he is to go on this, how much he wants to just chicken out. Louis spends the next half an hour talking Harry down, comforting him, even holding his hand as they approach the top of the wheel. He distracts him with stories about himself, asking him for stories in return, and Harry seems thankful for the company. It’s only when they emerge from the ride, smiling at each other, that Harry admits he has zero fear of heights – he just didn’t want Louis to focus on his nerves the whole time. And Louis just can’t help but invite him to have a few drinks after that.
Camping AU
When Louis agreed to come to Las Vegas with his Harry, he didn’t expect to be in the middle of the fucking desert sweating his ass off. Unfortunately, Harry’s idea of a getaway weekend involved way more “sunrise hikes” and less “getting drunk by the pool” than Louis would have enjoyed. But he keeps the grumbling to a minimum, if only because it means he gets to whine a little at night about how cold the desert gets so that Harry will snuggle him in his sleeping bag.
Hotel Owner Harry
It’s sort of just unspoken – everyone knows why you rent a room at the Sky Ranch Motel. Harry long ago made peace with it, no longer struggling with his moral compass of being the owner of such an establishment. Except it seems nobody told this Louis person that this isn’t exactly the motel you book for business trips, because it’s his third time back here in just as many months, and he always books a room for multiple nights. No guests, no shady behavior. Just checks in, smiles at Harry and wishes him well, and heads off to his room. Sometimes Louis will come down in the middle of the night claiming he can’t sleep, and they’ll spend a few hours watching bad TV on the small set in the manager’s office until Louis falls asleep with his head on Harry’s shoulder. This continues for quite a while, until Harry can’t take it anymore – he has to ask Louis why he stays here of all places in Vegas. And Louis just shrugs and says it’s got more to do with the owner than the room, as he continues to shovel popcorn into his mouth.
From the Rainbow Mood Board:
Strangers to Lovers
Louis thinks he’s hit the jackpot when he discovers WWOOFing (Word Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) – travel the world, free room and board, and all he has to do is help some farmers? He’s sold. He never stays anywhere for long, until he decides to head to Iceland and oh shit this farmer is young and hot. After a week on Harry’s farm, Louis keeps trying to find excuses to stick around – the fence needs mending, the cows have gotten really comfortable with Louis, and oops now it’s stormed and they’re snowed in.
Airbnb AU
Harry’s visiting New York City for the first time, and excited to try out Airbnb. He’s booked an awesome studio apartment, but when he shows up the owner – Louis – is frazzled and panicking, because he totally forgot about an important meeting, has to stay in town for the night, and oh my God a million apologies, really can’t believe this, would never do something like this. Rather than opting to leave, Harry decides to reassure Louis that it’s totally fine, and he doesn’t mind if they share for the night. Besides, Louis is quite cute, and funny, and very endearing when he’s apologizing profusely.
Enemies to Lovers
Louis and Harry are both park rangers in Grand Canyon National Park, but that’s where their similarities end. Where Louis is loud and effervescent, Harry is reserved and patient. They run tours sometimes, and they each give the other a hard time for their different tactics (“Really Harold? You’re going to bore someone to death one of these days.” “Well at least they’re learning about the Grand Canyon Louis, and not just distracted by your hand gestures.”) One day, they get a call that some hikers have gotten lost, and they have to team up to find them, to the disappointment of both of them. It turns out, though, that they make an incredible team, locating the hikers easily. After that, they start finding excuse to team up, start running tours together, and generally spending all their free time in one another’s company – to the confusion of pretty much everyone they work with.
Road Trip AU
It’s the week after college graduation, and this is Louis’ last chance. He told himself over and over throughout the past two years that he was going to admit his feelings to Harry, that he was going to tell his best friend that he wasn’t content with what they had – that he wanted them to be together. But it never happened. And now college is over, and they’re going their separate ways, and this road trip that Louis proposed last minute is his only shot to let Harry know what he’s feeling before he moves across the country. So they sing 90s music at the top of their lungs, and they stop at every overlook they drive by, and they make their way across the country without much thought of their destination. And every day that passes reminds Louis of the ticking clock, and he’s just hoping that he’ll find the courage to say something before it’s too late.
Mermaid H&L
Harry and Louis are both mermaids who have grown up together in the same lagoon their whole lives. Harry, who’s been in love with Louis as long as he can remember, starts noticing periods of time where Louis will go missing without explanation. One day, he decides to follow him and discovers a waterfall that leads out of the lagoon – and allows them legs to walk on land. Louis begs him not to spill his secret, but on a night that Louis doesn’t return to the lagoon like usual, Harry knows he has to leave the safety of the water to go find him.
Dystopian AU
Louis has been making his way towards his family home for weeks, ever since the world went to shit, determined to find his parents and siblings and help them out, keep them safe. He avoids people, opting to take the back roads as much as possible, until one day he fucks up and injures himself. He thinks he’s done for, destined to die on his own in the middle of nowhere, when a kind stranger with a smile that doesn’t seem possible these days, finds him and takes him to his home, a secluded place away from the chaos. Harry nurses Louis back to health, little by little, and despite Louis’ insistence that he would never take on company, he finds himself hoping that Harry might join him on the rest of this insane journey, finds himself thinking maybe this fucked up world isn’t too far gone when people like Harry exist in it.
Neighbors AU
Everything has been going smoothly since Louis moved into his new apartment – except for the fact that nearly every morning he hears strange sounds coming from outside his balcony. At first he tries to convince himself it’s nothing, followed by about a week of swearing the place is haunted, until finally he decides to be brave and check out the mysterious noises himself. What he finds is his tall, handsome neighbor struggling to climb over the railing onto Louis’ balcony, and when Louis shouts at him he stumbles and falls, breaking a planter. After profuse apologies, some bandages on scraped knees, and a cup of tea shared over sunrise, Louis learns that this neighbor – Harry – doesn’t have a balcony of his own, and has been coming over to watch the sunrise every morning from Louis’ apartment. He’s embarrassed, and swears he won’t do it again, but the next morning Louis finds himself knocking on Harry’s door, inviting him over himself, promising he doesn’t have to risk injury climbing over the railing anymore.
Historical Fic
Harry lives in the foothills of Central Appalachia, a secluded existence – which suits him just fine. He spends his time running a small farm, content in his solitude. Until one day a fast talking visitor arrives from the coast, a man who surprises Harry with his forthcoming nature, his tendency to ask questions where most people would just leave well enough alone. It confuses Harry, at first, why Louis would be making his way through this part of the country, why he would request refuge at Harry’s farm, when everything about their lives looks different. Slowly, though, they begin to understand each other, to pull back the layers of what they’re both hiding – Harry with his quiet solitude, and Louis with his never ending chatter.
Cowboy H&L
Louis has worked at the Styles’ family ranch since he was a kid – as soon as he was old enough to get up on a horse, he’s been tending to livestock, helping as a ranch hand, working himself into the ground to help both his family and his employers. He doesn’t see much of the Styles’ boy, Harry, who prefers schoolwork and studying to working the land. That is until they’re both grown up, and Louis is set to take over the handling of the entire ranch – Harry suddenly decides he’s interested, wants to run the family business himself, and Louis can’t believe it. He’s beside himself with anger, cursing Harry for ignoring the ranch his whole life until it suits him. When Anne begs Louis to show Harry the ropes, he begrudgingly sets out to turn this book-smart, city-loving guy into a true cowboy. He just can’t help it if along the way he begins to fall for a man who can barely ride a horse.
From the Summer Mood Board:
Famous/Famous AU
Harry has just bought his dream house after years of toiling away trying to make it as an actor. And, well, it would be his dream house if not for the minor detail of having to share a pool with the neighbor. The real estate agent assured him it wouldn’t be a problem, but the real estate agent didn’t mention that said neighbor happened to be Louis Tomlinson – Oscar-nominated actor and star of Harry’s more explicit dreams for most of his adult life. Harry tries to avoid the pool as much as he can, but Louis seems disinclined to do the same. Harry is forced to watch as his celebrity crush flaunts his body every day, laying around the pool in tiny swim trunks. When Harry finally works up the courage to go out there (how can he avoid it anymore? It’s a thousand degrees outside!), Louis smirks and says “I was wondering when you were going to stop watching and start joining me, Curly.”
Farmer’s Market AU
Harry spends every Friday night meticulously hand crafting homemade popsicles – carrot ginger, raspberry tart, mint julep – in order to sell them on Saturday mornings at the local farmer’s market. Louis runs the stall next to him, and can’t help but mercilessly tease Harry every single time he sees them. Many arguments about ‘hipster bullshit’ erupt between them, until one day Louis shows up claiming he can do just as well as Harry, and begins to sell his own popsicles. Harry gets incredibly flustered, because he spends hours lovingly handcrafting homemade treats, and Louis is peddling Bomb Pops for a dollar a piece. This turns into a competition of who can sell the most mundane items to unsuspecting ‘hipster’ patrons, and they both can’t help but fall a little in love with each other.
Alien Harry AU
Louis spends his nights in the desert outside. It’s cooler than during the day, when he all but hides from the heat. But at night, he’s found his place – laying out under the expanse of stars, no sounds of the highway for miles. He does this every night without fail, until one night – somebody joins him. He doesn’t think much of the stranger at first (it wouldn’t be the first time someone else wanted to star gaze out here). But there’s something different about this guy… Louis can’t figure it out. He tries to ignore all the weird stuff that goes on when this guy (Harry, he says his name is) is around, but he can’t quite seem to ever get him out of his head. And he’s always there, without fail, right beside Louis, telling him slow, rambling stories about the places beyond the stars.
Blind Date AU
Louis shows up to the Mexican restaurant and he’s already running late, but he can’t believe his luck when he sees Harry sitting alone (Liam did a really excellent job picking out his perfect type). Harry seems just as surprised and struck by Louis, but they pass the night away drinking strong drinks and eating too many chips and salsa, and Harry asks him out immediately once the date is over. Cut to Louis checking his phone afterwards, and Liam is having a coronary because he never showed up to his blind date and now Liam’s friend is pissed and he can’t believe Louis would be this forgetful. And Louis scrolls up to see that he went to the wrong Mexican restaurant, but then he gets a text from Harry admitting that he had no idea who Louis was but he was too gorgeous to pass up the chance – and Louis can’t really feel all that guilty about it.
Road Trip AU
Harry’s been planning his perfect cross-country road trip for months, but Niall just bailed on him and he needs a partner ASAP. He puts out a desperate plea on Craigslist, and on the morning he’s supposed to ship out, a stranger named Louis turns up at the diner while Harry pores over his maps. Instead of submerging himself in art and culture for three weeks, as he had planned, Harry finds himself following Louis’ pleas to stop at places like the “Toilet Seat Art Museum” and “The World’s Largest Chest of Drawers”. He pretends to hate it for a few days, but changes his tune when Louis starts casually holding his hand as they walk through attractions like the “Cadillac Ranch”.
Hitchhiker AU
Harry can’t believe someone would be so irresponsible as to hitchhike in what’s (practically) the middle of nowhere. He picks him up against his better judgment, and spends the first half hour lecturing this Louis character on all the ways this could have gone wrong. Louis teases him ruthlessly about the fact that he’s lecturing Louis, but he stopped to pick up a total stranger. Hours pass, obnoxious show tunes are sung, Harry falls slightly in love with this mysterious stranger, and only when they get to the next biggest city (about four hours away from where he picked Louis up) does he ask where he’s going. That’s when Louis admits he just needed a ride about 5 minutes down the road, but couldn’t bring himself to say anything.
Hiker AU
Louis had planned this solo hike for what felt like forever. He was going to spend the time in solitude getting to know himself better. This was his plan at least, until every single shelter he stops at each night is also housing the very cute, and very friendly, Harry Styles. Louis tries to ignore him as best he can, but after the fourth consecutive night of staying up way too late trading stories around the fire (and on that final night, waking up tangled together after they forget to go back to their tents), Louis asks Harry to join him for the rest of his trip.
Wedding Crasher AU
Louis is an expert wedding crasher, has been doing it for years. He’s smitten with Harry, who he meets at one of his weekend crashes, flirting and kissing in the shadows at the outdoor venue. He tells him an elaborate story of how he met the bride through her cousin, offering up free dental work when they were in a jam (Louis is obviously not a dentist). They part ways the next morning, and Louis thinks nothing of it. Until he sees Harry again at his next wedding, and (oops!) he’s already made a drunken toast about how he couldn’t be happier to have met the couple while hosting karaoke at his bi-weekly gig downtown. Harry proceeds to introduce Louis to every family member he knows, entangling Louis even further in his lies (to the extreme delight of Harry).
Enemies to Lovers AU
When Louis moved to paradise to get away from it all, he didn’t expect to be spending most of his time figuring out ways to dismantle the little bar crawl operation down the road from his. And he wouldn’t have to if Harry Styles hadn’t moved in exactly four months after Louis did, encroaching on Louis’ own bar crawl business. Harry had tried (and failed) to explain to Louis that they could work around each other, would never even have to see each other. But Louis isn’t having it, and decides the best plan of action is to take his groups to the EXACT same places Harry does (thereby showing Harry that he’s better at showing people a good time). Drunken flirting, poorly planned sabotage, and a completely oblivious Louis ensue.
From the Tea Mood Board:
Pining Fic
It’s winter, and it’s been four months, six days, and thirteen hours since Harry had Louis in his bed. He knows because he’s counted every one, and felt every minute more deeply than the last one. His friends give him such shit for falling in love with someone he could never have been with. Harry knew Louis was leaving, they both knew it, but it hadn’t stopped them from getting so tangled up in each other it was hard to tell where one of them began and the other ended. So Harry goes to work, and he comes home, and he sees friends, but mostly he just misses Louis. And he tries to distract himself from the deep ache in any way he can.
Bookshop AU
Harry works at a bookshop and Louis is incredibly smitten, going in every day on his way home from work. Harry periodically mentions books that he loves, and Louis agrees wholeheartedly (except Louis’ never read a single one, and he panics one Saturday and goes to the library to check out fifteen books that Harry’s mentioned in the past few weeks. He spends hours poring over them, basically unable to retain anything as he sits at his table chugging tea). The next time he goes in, Louis throws out a reference to Harry’s favorite novel, but he mixes up the characters from another of Harry’s favorites, and Harry calls him out on it. Louis confesses, and Harry asks him out on a date.
Coffee Shop AU
Louis works as a barista at a local coffee shop, and can’t stop staring at the dark haired guy who comes in every Saturday morning at the same outdoor table like clockwork (Louis makes sure to ask him his name after the third week). When people try to sit at that table anywhere within 30 minutes of 10 AM on Saturdays, Louis finds excuses to shoo them away. One Saturday, it’s five minutes until Harry usually shows up and Louis is doing his best to explain to the older woman that this table isn’t actually available, even though yes I understand no one was sitting here, and he’s getting flustered until Harry comes up behind him and catches him in the act. Harry admits he’s been coming every Saturday trying to work up the nerve to ask Louis out.
Blogger H+L
Louis runs a semi-successful blog, but can’t seem to reach quite the level of fame that Harry Styles has. He isn’t jealous. He isn’t! It’s just that he thinks he can write great quality stuff, and maybe people only love Harry Styles because of his stupidly green eyes and his long legs and his broad chest. And maybe Louis cyber stalks him occasionally, and leaves anonymous comments on his blog trying to rile him up. And if one day Harry shares one of Louis’ blog articles with incredible praise, he definitely doesn’t freak out. And when they start emailing back and forth about blog post ideas, he obviously keeps his cool. And when Harry admits over the phone one night, quietly, that he’s always admired Louis from afar, and could they maybe get some coffee sometime in person? Louis most definitely says yes.
Matchmaker AU
Louis and Harry don’t know each other, but they both make appointments with a matchmaker who fills her office with pink flowers, heart motif everywhere, and takes detailed notes on each of their likes and dislikes. They pass each other in the waiting room a couple times, and each of them keep coming back to complain about the dates she’s sent them on – truthfully none of them had been thathorrible, but they each couldn’t stop thinking about the handsome stranger they always crossed path with at her office. The matchmaker can’t hide her confusion because this system works!Until one day she goes into her waiting room and sees the flirty body language between them. She knows just what to do next.
Established Relationship Fic
Every Sunday morning, Harry makes Louis the perfect cup of tea, and comes back to bed to snuggle underneath the fluffy duvet with him. Louis wants to go back to sleep, but Harry starts reading next to him and Louis begs him to read out loud. Harry pouts because he doesn’t think he does it well enough, but Louis loves his voice so much and the way he reads the characters. They spend hours getting lost in new stories together every weekend.
Kid Fic + Christmas
Louis is exhausted, while Harry sits cross legged on the ground unwrapping presents with their two kids and shouting inane things like “SANTA CAME!” at the top of his lungs periodically. The kids worry about Louis, but Harry assures them that Papa just needs his cup of tea. The three of them get up to make it, and Louis dozes off on the couch, awoken only when Harry presses a kiss to his forehead and sets his mug on the table. “Merry Christmas, Lou.” Louis smiles, crinkly eyed. “Merry Christmas, Haz.”
Florist Harry
Louis and Harry are newly dating, and Louis just spent the night at Harry’s house for the first time. Harry had to run out quickly in the morning to open up his shop incredibly early, but assured Louis that he should take his time getting up (and he could stick around if he wanted – you know, no pressure, but like – he wouldn’t mind one bit). Once Louis hears the door click shut, he gets up and heads to the kitchen for some tea, seeing a mug (of course with a floral print) already sitting there, with a perfect pink flower next to it. And Louis ends up sticking around until Harry gets home.
First Date AU
Wanting to impress tea-loving Louis, Harry takes him to a traditional tea house on their first date where Louis spends the entire time trying to hide his disgust at the herbal teas surrounding them. He wants Harry to like him so badly, so he tries to gulp down the mug, filled to the brim with tealeaves. Harry is confused, because hadn’t Louis not been able to shut up about tea before this? Louis admits afterwards, embarrassed, that he’s just a simple Yorkshire+milk man, and Harry can’t help but kiss him right there in the parking lot.
From the Winter Mood Board:
Teacher H+L, Snow Day AU
Louis lives for snow days. Apart from summer break, they’re basically why he became a teacher (alright, maybe that’s not true and he does love his kids, but snow days are just the best). And he was planning on spending this day snuggled up in bed with a cup of coffee and a book, but now the other third-grade teacher Harry is banging on his door all bundled-up with plastic sleds under his arm and a thermos of hot chocolate, begging Louis to come with him. And who is Louis to deny someone who trudged all the way over here (it has nothing to do with the secret crush Louis’ had on Harry since he came to the school six months ago). So they make their way to Harry’s “perfect secret spot” and spend the day having snowball fights and sledding down small hills, and when the sun is finally beginning to go down, they’re sitting underneath a tree catching their breath – and Harry leans over and warmly kisses Louis’ pink cheeks saying, “Thanks for today, Lou”.
Strangers to Lovers
This was supposed to be a perfect ski trip, but with Niall catching a cold and staying back at the lodge, and Liam taking a rest day for his sore legs, it looks like Louis is all on his own to hit the slopes this time. And that’s fine with him, he can handle that. Except now he’s on the ski lift next to an incredibly fit stranger, and… it stops. And it doesn’t start again. And after the inevitable awkward silences, the stranger (Harry, he says his name is) suggests they spend the time getting to know each other. So the next two hours (seriously, how long does it take to fix a ski lift?) are spent asking twenty questions, giggling over ridiculously cheesy jokes, and scooting closer and closer – until finally Louis admits how cold he is, and Harry wraps a warm and comforting arm around him. When the ski lift finally starts moving again, neither of them are ready to say goodbye.
College AU
When Louis planned to spend his semester in America, he didn’t really think about the fact that he would be stuck here over the holidays by himself. Everyone in his apartment left for Christmas, and now he’s alone in the city that he’s unfamiliar with, and the weather is just abysmal. There’s no hope for him being able to get out and do things, so he’s left to entertain himself. Until a knock comes at his door one morning, and he sleepily opens it to find Harry – the other British exchange student who lives a floor down. He’s come bearing baked goods and a goofy smile, and informs Louis that since they’re the only two people left in this whole building, they’re going to spend Christmas together. Classic movies, lots of hot cocoa, and some warm snuggling commence.
Bedsharing
When Niall offered up his family’s cabin as a place for Louis to stay, he must have conveniently forgotten that he gave an identical offer to Harry Styles. Louis and Harry have crossed path once or twice at school, but never really gotten to know each other – and Louis is, frankly, annoyed that his weekend of solitude he had been planning is now being shared with this curly-headed giant. And to make matters worse, their now snowed-in, miles from town, and there’s only one bed. Harry politely takes the couch the first night, but Louis can see how uncomfortable he is the next day, and he does the only logical thing he can think of – he offers to share. (Later, Niall will laugh at them and suggest that the logical thing to do would have been for Louis to just switch places with Harry and take the couch, but they’re too busy holding hands and smiling at each other to really take notice)
Best Friends to Lovers
Louis needs to see the Northern Lights. He’s just got to. It’s the thing he wants to cross off his bucket list more than anything else, and one day his best friend Harry (while listening to Louis whine about it) simply says, “Alright, Lou. Let’s go”. Which is how Louis finds himself on an adventure with his best friend he’s been secretly in love with for years, trekking north any way they can (with very limited resources). And Louis didn’t even think it was possible to fall more in love with Harry, but this trip is proving him wrong. And in the deepest part of his heart, the part he doesn’t admit to anyone, he’s hoping that once they’re standing under those lights, a miracle might happen – and Harry might finally be in love with him too.
Mountain Climber AU
Louis is on track to set the record for this hike – and he would be the youngest to ever do it, too. The problem is that his rival, Harry Styles, is on the exact same mission. You couldn’t read an article about their extreme sport these days without seeing both their names printed next to each other. Styles and Tomlinson (or Tomlinson and Styles, as Louis preferred): the wunderkinds of mountain climbing, both poised to take the crown. But who would get there first? If Louis has anything to do with it, it’s going to be him. But maybe fate has other plans, because on the eighth day of his trek he makes a stupid mistake and twists his ankle, which slows his pace so much he’s effectively out of the running. Except now Harry Styles is inching along too? He stops when Louis stops, he makes camp when Louis makes camp, he even walks with him sometimes – meandering along as Louis leans on a makeshift crutch, telling slow stories and coaxing laughs out of Louis even when he’s grumpy. And… what is happening? Why isn’t Harry just leaving Louis in the dust? And how come when Harry starts offering his arm to help Louis along, Louis is getting butterflies?
Photographer Harry, Scientist Louis
You’d think in the middle of the arctic, Louis would be able to avoid the only person around for miles – that they’d be able to give each other enough space to just never interact. But it seems that’s not how Harry Styles, wildlife photographer, likes to operate. Every single time Louis is out taking meticulous notes on the local plants and animals, Harry is there – snapping away with his gigantic camera, asking Louis questions about whatever pops into his head. Louis is trying to get his job done, and he doesn’t need some incredibly good looking hipster photographer slowing him down. But Harry does not let up, and pretty soon Louis comes to expect his company. They take slow walks through the silent mornings, snow falling around them, and Harry will occasionally stop to snap a photo or two. And Louis’ not sure what’s going on here, but one morning Harry reaches out for Louis’ hand and doesn’t let go. And that – well Louis’ not sure what to make of that, but he finds it incredibly exciting.
Amnesia AU
In the blink of an eye, professional snowboarder Louis Tomlinson lost everything. All his memories from the past ten years, erased in one second. And now he’s got a handsome man telling him that not only is Louis an Olympic medalist in the sport he loves, but the two of them are married. As Louis tries to navigate his way through the frustration of not remembering a single thing about his current self (How could he have a silver medal? And how could he have forgotten that?), Harry is there – patient, gentle, kind Harry. But they’re strangers. Louis doesn’t know how to be a husband to someone he’s never met. And he can see that he’s breaking Harry’s heart, can see it plain as day, but he doesn’t know how not to. But slowly, Louis begins to develop a crush on this kind stranger, and just maybe Harry will help Louis rediscover the parts of himself that he lost.
Breakup to Makeup
When Louis and Harry split, they hadn’t been able to decide who would get the lakefront cabin – they had both helped purchase it, both poured their hearts into decorating it, why should one of them get to keep it? Instead, they decide to split their time there so that they won’t have to run into each other unnecessarily. Except now it’s freezing, the middle of winter, and neither of them expected the other to be there. Louis wants to just give up and leave, but Harry begs him to just stay and hang out for a while. And it turns out to not be so bad – they’re even joking with each other about past times. And one night they drink a little too much and end up snuggling in their old bed, but it definitely doesn’t mean anything. Except now they’re finding excuses to touch each other all the time, and Louis’ heart is starting to feel whole again like it hasn’t since they drifted apart. And finally, Harry admits sheepishly that Liam had told him Louis would be here this weekend, and Harry had been hoping to get another chance. Louis can’t say he’s that upset about it.
From the Window Mood Board:
Sailing Instructor Louis
Harry came to Maine for the summer with the express intent of learning to sail – he’s always wanted to, he’s talked about it forever, so why not just do it? He rents a tiny cottage on the coast for the summer, and marches himself into town to sign up for lessons immediately. There’s only one small problem – the only available sailing instructor teaches children aged 7-12. Okay maybe two small problems – he also happens to be the most gorgeous man Harry has ever laid eyes on. Instead of running home with his tail between his legs, he throws caution to the wind and asks the man, Louis, if he could join his class anyway. In between Louis giving him shit, Harry actually starts to learn to sail (Louis claims he’s at least the third best in the class, right behind a 9 and 10 year old)
Ghost Hunter AU
Louis has always been a skeptic, always. So when he gets the chance to debunk a well-known ghost hunter named Harry Styles on his TV show, he jumps at the chance. But Louis didn’t anticipate a few things – he didn’t anticipate being scared out of his mind in an abandoned mental hospital at night, he didn’t anticipate wondering if ghosts are actually real, and he certainly didn’t anticipate being so attracted to Harry Styles he almost can’t stand it. The few times he almost loses it and vows to give up and run away from this (maybe, sort of, possibly super haunted) building, Harry’s there to comfort him, keeping him grounded, promising him he’s safe. And who is Louis to deny the warm embrace of someone like Harry? Even if it means sticking out the whole night here in absolute terror.
Strangers to Lovers
How Louis let Niall and Liam convince him of this, he has no idea. Two weeks in the middle of nowhere Wyoming, playing pretend like they live in the Old West? What kind of nonsense is this, Louis is appalled. And now he’s been assigned to learn woodworking from some adult who plays dress up for a living, and… oh fuck. So it turns out the man who’s teaching Louis for the next two weeks is hot as shit, alright. Louis can definitely handle this. At least he’s changed his mind about this whole “let’s pretend we’re cowboys” trip. Now he’s just got to impress this Harry Styles somehow, and it’s definitely not going to be with his nonexistent woodworking skills. Oh well, he’ll just have to figure it out as he goes.
Architect H+L
Harry just started his dream job working for an architecture firm in the city, and he can’t believe that he gets to work with such brilliant people. Especially Louis Tomlinson. Harry has admired his work from afar for as long as he can remember, and now getting to call him a coworker is blowing his mind. But it turns out that not only is Louis a brilliant architect, he’s hilarious, and sweet, and he starts inviting Harry to come around the city with him and explore old buildings and new construction and everything in between to inspire ideas. And who is Harry to say no to an offer like that?
Youtuber H&L
Harry has been sent on the trip of a lifetime to Greece, and he’s documenting it all on his lifestyle YouTube channel. What he doesn’t know is that famous daily vlogger Louis Tomlinson is staying at the same resort, but when he checks his page (which, okay, maybe he checks it a few times a day just for… reasons…), he nearly has a heart attack. They start to cross paths more and more, with Harry finding excuses to show up where he knows Louis will be – the pool, the restaurant, the spa… Until viewers start noticing little hints that they’re showing up in each other’s social media more and more. Finally Harry just gathers up the courage to ask Louis if they can film a vlog together, and their viewers go nuts (almost as nuts as Harry when he gets to be this close to Louis Tomlinson).
Teacher H&L
Louis has just started his job as a middle school teacher, and it’s everything he’s ever hoped for. The kids are wonderfully awkward, his commute is short, and everyone on staff is incredibly friendly… including the ridiculously gorgeous art teacher Harry. Louis teaches sixth grade English, so he rarely gets to cross paths with him, but he decides he has to remedy that immediately – and starts to develop a plan. He decides to approach Harry about collaborating on a project with his students, a combination of a writing and art challenge, and persuades him that they’ll have to meet every afternoon after school to host the club, go over logistics, really take a pivotal role in the learning of their kids… and maybe flirt shamelessly (although Louis leaves that part unspoken… for now).
Gardener Harry
Louis keeps seeing flowers pop up everywhere – on his walk to work, in the potholes on the street, even the windows of old buildings that no one uses anymore. He starts to look forward to noticing when this mystery person will bring a little beauty and color to the drab parts of this small, old town. One morning, he catches the person in the act – a tall, broad, handsome man gently placing beautiful purple flowers around the front of an abandoned store. And Louis can’t let this opportunity pass him by, he’s got to talk to him, got to figure out what makes this man tick – why he feels compelled to plant flowers everywhere he goes. (And maybe, someday, Louis will tell him just how much these flowers have brightened Louis’ days, too.)
Enemies to Lovers
Harry fell in love with the place immediately, and bought it on a whim. It seemed like such a good idea at the time, but now he’s facing down the challenge of renovating the entire place, and he’s overwhelmed. He hires master carpenter Louis, who comes highly recommended, but from day one it’s mishap after mishap. They miscommunicate on what windows Harry wanted, there’s bickering over budget, and Harry almost loses life and limb at least once daily when he tries to use power tools. But Louis keeps showing up every day, and they chip away at the gigantic project in front of them – and slowly the bickering shifts into something a little more like flirting.
Exes to Lovers
That damn window shade. Harry can never seem to get it adjusted right, and Louis was the only one who ever seemed to be able to. But Louis’ not here anymore, and every time Harry sees those crooked blinds, all he can think is that things aren’t supposed to be this way. So he has a few drinks, and he may or may not send a text to Louis asking if he’ll come over and fix the problem, because it’s driving Harry crazy. And Louis does, because Louis is wonderful and has never let Harry down. But the next week, Harry notices a leaky faucet. And then a few dents in the walls. And the back door hinge won’t stop squeaking. And suddenly it’s a month later and Louis’ been coming over a few times a week to fix up their apartment they used to share. And then he starts sticking around for a beer or two after. And then maybe a movie. And maybe this is working out better than Harry expected…
From the Halloween Mood Board:
Historical AU (1600s)
Harry has no idea what he’s going to do. He’s been falsely accused of witchcraft and he only has until tomorrow to convince people he’s innocent, otherwise he’ll meet an untimely end. He’s contemplating just running away when he gets a knock on his door in the middle of the night. On the other side is Louis Tomlinson, the handsome, charismatic schoolteacher who everyone loves and Harry’s always admired from afar. Confused, Harry asks what he’s doing there, and is shocked when Louis says, “I’m here to help you. If anyone can help you out of this, it’s a real witch.”
Demon Hunter H&L
Harry and Louis have always tried their best to just avoid each other. It’s not like demon hunting is that common of a profession, but having two in the same town is almost unheard of. They reached an unspoken agreement long ago to keep to themselves, to mind their own business, and have exchanged little more than surly nods to each other across the bar for years. But now they’ve both found themselves facing down a powerful evil force that neither of them can conquer, and Louis has to be the one to bite the bullet and ask Harry to meet him one night at the pub – they’re both going to have to put aside their differences and work together to keep their town safe. If they don’t kill each other first in the process.
Practical Magic AU
Harry’s spent his whole adult life trying to separate himself from the jeers and insults that come with being part of a known witch family. Instead, he spends his time selling skin care items and beauty products to the locals, doing his best to just be normal. Until he ends up in trouble helping out his sister (who’s always adhered to their magical ancestry as often as possible), and attracts the attention of special officer Louis Tomlinson – a handsome stranger from out of town who does his best to investigate everything there is to know about Harry, and in the process – helps Harry rediscover a magic of his own.
Vampire Louis, Vampire Hunter Harry
Vampire hunters come and go, Louis’ seen them for hundreds of years. They’re sort of cute in their confidence, in an annoying kind of way, but they’ve never actually given him much trouble. Until one Harry Styles shows up on the scene. And suddenly Louis finds himself stalking graveyards at night like some kind of freshly-turned novice, hoping to run into a certain green-eyed hunter. Can he really help it if he hasn’t experienced the kind of charm and humor that Harry possesses in hundreds of years? The fact that they’re supposed to be mortal enemies is… a minor inconvenience at best.
Kid Fic
As if being parents wasn’t hard enough, raising two kids who are just coming into their magical powers (which seem to rival both their dads’ abilities) can sometimes be a catastrophe. As Halloween approaches, and their ten-year-old continues to make magical disasters happen everywhere she turns, Louis and Harry are at their wits end trying to keep the family secret just that – a secret from everyone around them. At least they have each other to lean on – and a few magical cover ups here and there can’t hurt.
Single Dads H&L
(Shoutout to @icanhazzalou for this idea!)
Harry and his kid are out trick or treating, and are really killing the Avengers game, if he does say so himself. Their Thor and Iron Man costumes have gotten compliments all night, and after a while they end up running into another dad with his kid who are dressed as Captain America and The Hulk. Harry can’t believe how handsome this Captain America is, and maybe it’s all the sugar pumping through him right now, but he goes out on a limb and suggests they stick together – no reason to break up a powerful group like this, right?
Werewolf AU
Louis has grown up hearing his whole life to stay away from the Styles pack – some long standing feud between the two families has left him with a bias that runs deep. Unfortunately for him, that bias doesn’t exactly cover his secret relationship with Harry Styles, the heir apparent to the whole group. He was a goner from the first day they met as teenagers, and even now – years later – their families still don’t know that they spend every moment they can together, building a life, making plans to escape. If only they could figure out how to navigate the whole “blood feud” between everyone they know.
Halloween Party AU
Louis absolutely lives for Halloween, goes all out every single year and throws the party to rival all other parties. This year is no exception, and he’s throwing it in this creepy abandoned barn on the outskirts of town – the perfect setting. He spends all night chatting it up with a handsome stranger dressed in a 1950s costume, a sweet and funny guy named Harry who kisses him at the end of the night and promises they’ll see each other again. Except when Louis tries to track him down, absolutely no one he talks to remembers seeing a guy that matches that description, and nobody’s ever heard of a guy named Harry through any of their friends. Is Louis going crazy? What happened to the perfect guy he met that night?
Haunted House AU
Harry has always been brave, always sought out spooky and paranormal experiences, but this might be the one that breaks him. His best friend (who he has also inconveniently been in love with for years) begged him to come along on this dare, begged Harry to stay the night in this abandoned house, to prove their other friends wrong and win a hundred dollars each. But now it’s after midnight, there’s unexplained noises everywhere they turn, and Harry doesn’t know if he’s going to make it out of here – at least not without confessing his love for Louis before they both get killed by ghosts.
