People who rewatch the same things a million times and make funny posts about the tiniest smallest things like a funny face or something or jokes about stuff you can only joke about on your third or fourth viewing, i love you, you make this whole thing fun, you , and (the other side of this) the beautiful meta thoughts and analysis are what fandom is about

Obviously a 14 year old kid isn’t gonna tell a story that’s of the same standard as a group of grown adults writing shorts for major tv networks. They’re kids, writing their stories out of passion, because they feel like the story they have to tell is important.

I know as a young kid I loved to draw and wrote comics. Most of them were just copying what I had seen on tv and in books I had read. And yeah, that wouldn’t be something I could do at this point, but it’s ultimately harmless for a young kid to be doing. Copying aspects of a series they enjoyed is a pretty normal thing for people to do. We shouldn’t shame kids for doing that. If people had called me the r word for copying some things series I enjoyed had done when I was a young kid, it would’ve made me feel like shit. I probably wouldn’t have wanted to keep telling my stories. And I don’t blame people who HAVE been told that for feeling that way. Seeing a person you look up to indirectly calling you an uninspired idiot for doing something that has been done before hurts like hell.

We shouldn’t be slamming kids for putting out cliched stories. We should be encouraging them. Of course you can give constructive criticism on how to improve, but be nice to them. Calling them slurs because they used a trope that’s oversaturated isn’t constructive criticism, it’s just being an overly mean spirited jackass. Kids aren’t going to want to continue to make art or stories that make them happy if you do that. They won’t want to do anything to improve on their craft because you’ve already told them their creations are worthless garbage.

God knows you didn’t come out of the womb perfect at your craft, it took years of encouragement from your friends and family and mentors to get where you are now. When you’re a big member of a community and are calling kids dumbasses for not being at the same standard as stories written by professionals, whether you realize it or not you’re discouraging the kids in your audience from attempting to improve themselves because you’ve basically said their work now is worthless, so why bother?

TLDR; Be nice to beginner artists and writers, especially kids.
