Hello! I hope you’re having a lovely day! Anyhow, down to business, I have a story in mind that I’d love to write. However, writing this story would involve characters speaking in Scottish accents. Unfortunately, I am pitifully American and have no idea how to write this without sounding rude or butchering the story with incorrect dialect. Any ideas? Thanks!

I am also American soooo my best idea is doing research. Maybe watching movies with Scottish actors or listening to the way they speak. I’m sure all accents are different depending on the part of Scotland they came from, kind of like how people from Texas sound different than people from Florida in America. 

I’ll also throw this question out to the followers and see if anyone has any advice.

“See? And this is what happens when you don’t listen to me!”

“Can you shut up and tell me your idea, again?”

“I don’t need you to rub it in.”

Can you write a prompt about a villain's sidekick that can't bring herself to kill the protagonist bc she's been so nice to the sidekick?

“You gonna kill me or what? You got me.”

“I…I can’t.”

“Care to explain?”

“You were…nice to me. People are never nice to me.”

“Oh.”

Or…

“I’m supposed to kill you.”

“I know. You won fair and square.”

“This…doesn’t seem fair.”

“Excuse me?”

“I don’t even hate you…why should I kill you?”

“You tell me, hun.”

“You were…really nice. I can’t kill you.”

Prompts for a stalker helping and protecting their victim, comforting them and fixing their stuffs? (The victim doesn't know the stalker)

“What are you doing?”

“Fixing your sink.”

“I…I didn’t even know it was broken. That explains the brown water.”

“I’m surprised you’re still alive.”

Or…

“How’d you get here?”

“I saw you from across the street, I was getting coffee. What’s wrong? Want me to go get you coffee?”

Or…

“I seem to run into you wherever I go.”

“Must be fate.”

“Right…”

any ideas of words that can replace "i love you" (like that "okay?okay" thing)

I’ve thought about this every so often, but it really depends on your characters. Your characters have different personalities and different love lives. They could all also show their love in different ways. I don’t think there’s anything like okay?okay because even if you could find some other words, it may not make sense to the type of relationship your characters have. Maybe go back into how your characters fell in love and look into ways they can say they love each other without actually saying the words. Whether it’s “I trust you” or something dealing with what was said when they first met, etc.

I want to write a story about a girl who moves in with her father and his new family. She used to live in a big city, now she lives in a small village. Do you have any prompts about that?

“Well, this definitely isn’t what I’m used to.”

“Is that bad?”

“No…I could…I could get used to it. Why is that kid staring?”

Or…

“So, did you tell the whole village I was coming?”

“It’s a small place, news travels fast.”

Or…

“What do you guys do around here? Like, for fun. Is there any movie theaters or anything?”

“There’s one, I think. Down the street. Not many people use it, though.”

“Why?”

“Who knows? Everyone kind of just does their own thing.”

Hello! I'm trying to write a story (struggling really) and I've written some parts but I feel like I can't move on until I've written the beginning of the story. I've difficulties to phrase it, How would you begin a story with a broody husband who has lost his wife one year prior and can't get past it? I thought about the whole "drinking whiskey in the dark while going over the tragedy once again" but I feel it's too cliché... what would you do?

If you don’t want him drinking all the time, you could always just have him constantly be reminded of her. Or he doesn’t show much emotion because he’s still in the grieving process. Grief is different for everyone and while he may not be the drinking type, he could just be the type where he basks in his own memories of her. He’s unable to move on even a little bit, you know?

If anyone else has some advice, please add on!
