Every pie should be proper.
RVA ALL DAY
It is hard to believe we have been here for a week! We have been meaning to blog but if you can imagine, we have been busy doing all the things!!!
We arrived on Wednesday night & Thursday & Friday we taught at my old performing arts high school. It's an amazing magnet arts high school within a public high school. It is the school I graduated from & both Charlie & I have been teaching there for many years.
They just under went a HUGE renovation & while Charlie was setting a new piece, I went to explore. I must say I got the surprise of my life while trying to find the new theater classroom. I stumbled upon two students having sex in a custodial closet! Le sigh.....this would only happen to me. The students were not part of the performing arts school & I had no idea who they were. The administration had me tell them what I saw & then write an official statement. Not even two hours back at my old school & I was already in the principal's office :) Thankfully the rest of our time at the school was great & Charlie's piece is adorable!
As a reward for working the first two days of our break, we stopped by our all time favorite place, Proper Pie, for lunch. OMG. So good. (Sorry for the lack of pictures. We inhaled our food).
Saturday was spent doing ALL the shopping & wrapping of gifts. Long lines everywhere. It was exhausting & awful.
Sunday was full of fun!!! We went to see the Forbidden City exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts with my family. Tickets were $20 a piece but since my sister had her military ID, we all got in for free!!! The exhibit was amazing! (Charlie will post pics soon).
Later that night we went to a Tacky Sweater party. In true Becky fashion we got lost on the way there, showed up 40 minutes late & then I hugged a stranger that I thought I knew. Oy. But it was great to see my friend, David, & check out his INCREDIBLE decorations. He has like 10 trees, y'all. Christmas everywhere! Wait till you see the pics!
Monday we had a day full of friends! We started with my favorite breakfast at Joe's Inn with some amazing dance peeps. This place has been around forever! My Dad & Mom had some of their first dates here!
Then we headed home to bake. So.Many.Cookies. I'm officially cookied out.
And finally drinks at The Jefferson with my love, Jason. After waiting 40 minutes for drinks, we finally got settled & took in the decorations & holiday cheer of this famous hotel. Fun fact: It's rumored that the steps of The Jefferson are featured in Gone with the Wind.
Yesterday was last minute shopping, wrapping, & yes, more baking. But we got to eat at the greatest sandwich shop in the world, Classics! Delicious.
We spent the evening eating a yummy home cooked meal & cuddling on the couch watching The Holiday. It was great!!!!
So that's what we have been up to so far. More adventure updates soon!
