Aziraphale reaches behind Crowley's ear again. Crowley expects to be shown the same blasted shilling he's produced from his pocket for the last hundred and fifty years or so.

What Aziraphale holds out to him is round, to be sure. Shiny, yes.

But it is not the same shilling.

Right on time, a plane appeared over St. James and spelled out ‘marry me, Angel’ in puffy white letters in the sky. Now, Crowley just had to wait for Aziraphale to notice, get down on one knee, and pull out the ring. It was all perfectly romantic, he thought, and the other visitors to the park seemed to agree if their excited pointing and chatter was anything to go by. There was just one problem.

Aziraphale wasn’t looking.

“You’re in a bit of a mood tonight.” The angel observes, hand already settling on Crowley’s shoulder. Crowley’s arm wraps around his lower back and he shuffles them from between the coffee table and the couch, already starting up a slow sway.

Crowley thinks of the plants outside.

The honeysuckle had been particularly proud of itself today, especially when Crowley had plucked a blossom and twisted it around his fingers, rolling it slowly.

“Maybe a bit.” Crowley allows, and presses his nose to Aziraphale’s temple. He smells faintly of ozone and a bit of a sea breeze.

“C-Crowley? Crowley, dear boy, what are you doing here?” Aziraphale asked after taking a pause to calm his internal panicking.

Crowley only snapped back to reality when Aziraphale laid a hand on his shoulder. “Ah? Oh, hey angel.” The demon tried to sound casual, but he could not help the panicked squeak that came out in his voice, “Fancy meeting you here.”

“Admiring the merchandise?” Aziraphale asked curiously, coming up beside his boyfriend to see what he had been looking at. His heart pounded a bit faster as he realized that the demon had been admiring the very ring he’d come to collect. “That’s a very lovely piece, dear,” he commented, tilting his head to the side a bit, “Looks custom-made.”

“Looks like someone else snatched it up already,” Crowley muttered, gesturing to the ‘Sold’ sign next to the ring, “Must’ve cost them a fortune. Custom pieces aren’t cheap, angel.”

“Yes, dear, I am aware of that,” Aziraphale replied breezily, trying not to give too much away.
