Will and Mac have taken over my brain for the past month and a half since I binge-watched The Newsroom in like? A week and a half? Two weeks top. And this song was made for them so I decided to make an edit about it :) Hope you enjoy !

willmac age gap 🙏🙏🙏
I have MANY THOUGHTS!!!! so Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer have a 20 year age gap. I don’t see any reason why this… wouldn’t work for willmac?? Assuming they met in the early/mid 2000s, Mac would’ve been 30ish to Will’s 50ish, give or take. And we know she was dating Brian other men for a while when they first worked together! Ultimately, I feel like their professional relationship would be more of a roadblock than the age gap, for both of them.
By the time we get to canon, they’re both well established in their field (to the point that HR can’t touch them in s3!!) and they have Other Things (Brian, Mac in the Middle East, Everything going on with Will) to work through re: their relationship ship. But the potentialllll for fics etc diving into willmac 1.0…
like. we could go humorous. Molly teasing Mac about her daddy issues and how that ties into her having a thing for older men. Mac tormenting Will whenever he mentions living through something that was before she was born. but also,,,,, it would be such a good way to dig into some of Will’s self-loathing etc. Mac flirting just for fun when she and Brian are on again-off again, Will thinking he’s terrible if he flirts but also. She’s smart AND hot, she can match him quip for quip, she has legs for days… and she’s twenty years younger!! He convinces himself he’s just Flirting Back and then. And then she breaks up with Brian. And he knows he’s in trouble!!!!!
