I'm about to drop some hard to swallow pills for certain shippers in this fandom. If you feel targeted by what I say, re-read it and make sure you understand the entire gist of what I say. If you criticize people who ship MegaStar based on Megatron being an abuser, then you also cannot ship MegOP, as Megatron will still have been an abuser. You are just moving him from one victim to another. If you criticize people who ship MegBee and OPBee because Bumblebee is "child coded", then you also cannot ship him with Starscream, Breakdown, or any other adult character. If you criticize people who ship ThunderFire because its "boring", you also cannot excuse 90% of the SkyStar content that exists in this fandom as Starscream's character is so flanderized he resembles Thundercracker more than himself. If you criticize people ANY ship for having "little material" or "no interactions" and no "subtext", you can almost ship NOTHING in this franchise as until IDW/Skybound/Earthspark the only intentional romance depicted was heterosexual (with a few minor exceptions across the world, mainly NOT from US material). That is all.

Per that insane Chris x Lindsay proship take from a few days ago, here’s a master guide on what counts as a proship (also use it as a metric to determine how insane you are if you support any of these ships!)

1. Is it a minor-adult relationship? PROSHIP! Chris x any of the teen campers, Blaineley x any of the teens, Chef x any of the teens, and Don x any of the underage racers is a NO GO.

2. Is it a stalker-victim relationship? PROSHIP! Cody x Sierra, Scary Girl x Damien, Scary Girl x ANY of the Team Skunk Butt members, and Cody x Gwen (YES, even them, you’re a freak if you think Cody taking a picture with her while she’s asleep and sniffing her hair is romantic). That’s a NO GO.

3. Is it a ship that violates a character’s canon sexuality? PROSHIP. Bowie x ANY GIRL, Raj x ANY GIRL, and all other straight campers x ANY CAMPER OF THE SAME GENDER are disgusting, and you guys are erasing representation. Wayne has been canonized by Terry McGurrin on Twitter as being an ALLY to Raj, AKA straight! Plus, Julia is clearly the “bitchy, basic straight white girl influencer” and so is Emma (Bowie saying “straight couples are messed up”). So Wayne, Julia, Emma, and Chase ESPECIALLY don’t need these same-sex ships; it’s erasure. Using these sexuality-violating ships is a NO GO.

Slightly unrelated, but 🐈’s insane “proship guide” that conveniently left out Coderra and Scarmien was repulsive and clearly biased, and I had to set the record straight, hence this new and improved proship guide. You’re welcome.

Although I don't ship incest myself, it's absolutely terrifying to me how quickly the fandom banded together to cancel this one artist for drawing Lambocest. I've been in fandoms long enough to know that there's always been people upset about ships they consider "bad" but the dumb morality contest part of it has gotten so much worse since covid and all the normies and tourists invaded fan spaces without learning fan culture first. What ever happened to "ship and let ship"?

Censorship IRL has gotten so bad and I don't think enough people are taking this as seriously as they should. The far-right nutjobs see ships like Lambocest exactly the same as other completely harmless queer pairings and they want them ALL gone simply because they're gay. "First they came for the communists and I said nothing for I wasn't a communist" and so on and so forth. And yes, it IS that serious. They always start by campaigning against something 99% of people agree is bad. Then they go after things 80% of people agree is bad. It can and WILL keep going until all queer things are the chopping block. I mean, just look outside your cozy queer internet bubble for five seconds and you'll see how bad it's truly gotten.

It doubly pisses me off because where is this united energy for REAL issues? Why can't you all band together for causes people are ACTUALLY affected by? Fandom isn't activism. "But it normalizes-" SHUT. UP. Normalize prioritizing real people over fandom if you actually care as much as you claim to.

I'm not saying we should celebrate incest or even condone it in any way (to reiterate I'm not an incest supporter) it's just wild to me how this fandom is literally doing puritan work for the people who want to nuke fandoms for being queer safe spaces.

The western side of the TF fandom is way worse compared to the eastern side of the TF fandom because of the sheer amount of purity culture and sanitisation prevalent in that side of the fandom. Everyone puts "proshippers DNI" in their bio while regularly violating "Antis DNI" boundaries. Call out posts are being made monthly on Asian creators who barely do anything except exist and post their fanart, and these call-outs are being REPEATED. There was a whole drama where they tried to cancel a popular artist from showing up to TFCON.

It's an echo chamber of bigotry, in the most definitive literal sense.

Some fans bash on ships like Trineshipping, Bayverse MegOp, or even MegaStar, while also simultaneously shipping Tarnma, Overtarn, and other problematic ships. Everyone is cherry picking ships they like, while putting down others.

If someone says they ship MegaStar because it's unhealthy and a great insight into cycles of abuse, someone always replies "So you support abuse in real life?"

If someone says they like Opbee because they see their relationship differently, someone will say "you're gross, they are father and son", Despite there being only ONE canon mention of their relationship as such, and that was in BAYVERSE.

I recently saw someone have "G1 MEGASTAR TRUTHER" in their bio but also "PROSHIPPERS DNI" -- which doesn't make sense, considering MegaStar is the face of Proshipping discourse in the TF fandom, but I digress -- write a post saying that MegaStar isn't the worse ship in the fandom because trineshipping incest and the terrans exist. Why are you trying to start fights? What is this mob mentality you're cultivating among your followers? Are you even hearing yourself?

I could go on, but these are the few examples I can point out at the moment. Why are we putting down other ships to make yours better? What is the point in doing all of this?

TL;DR -- WestTF should really learn to keep their mouth shut. Don't like? Don't read. Don't like? Scroll. You are not achieving anything by spreading hate. Understand what proshipping means before you Bash other people for it, respect boundaries, and stop putting down others for the sake of your own.

I frequently get confused about the where line is between toxic ships and actual proship lies with this franchise. like, sideswipe x sunstreaker? that's an obviously proship territory. optimus x scorponok? obviously not. megatron x starscream? depends on the continuity. stuff like overlord x fort max and shockwave x grimlock? I have no idea. It's confusing to me

Antis are literally strangling the creativity out of this fandom. Idk how to explain to them that puritan censorship is bad actually or that their right to comfort stops at anothers right to expression. Idk why its so hard for them to just block the shit they dont like instead of making their discomfort at topics they dont like everyone else's problem.

I don't know if it's because I was there when livejournal tfanon kinkmeme was a thing and the lawless land of fanfictionet was my main for a long ass time but I can't help but think that the new wave of newer fans are so weirdly squeamish

Sunstreaker/Sideswipe is very much an incest ship no matter how you spin it and it's literally been shipped for over a decade and only now am I seeing people going "Ew, they're brother" at them, incest is a load bearing taboo, I don't know what to tell you

Not to mention Megastar, I thought people finally got a grip and move on, nope the bullshit is back on again

If you don't like something just block and move on, the tf fandom is already big even without new fans from Tf one, there are always going to be bad actors, every fandom have them

They don't even need to go to check out fandom terms and etiquette, the very basis of Don't like Don't read can be applied to literally everything in fandom culture
