We are getting there.

Sanded down the first coat of primer, and just took it down into the basement to add another. If all goes well, I’ll be painting this weekend (first coat at least). Have to see how it looks once I’ve sanded the next coat at a higher grit.

It’s still in four separate pieces (grip, barrel, cone and trigger guard/cartridge) but everything is looking good.

Might cry when that first coat of bronze goes onto the barrel.

Ezra’s Thrower Prop Update:

Retaping the handle to do one more coat of tan. Getting ready to sand down the barrel one last time and add a THIN coat of rose gold. Ready for silver on the gray part of the trigger guard. That, plus the silver on the grip tomorrow + some detailing on the cone and the cartridge ends... and it’s DONE.

I finished the Ezra blaster the other night and was waiting for some aurelac resin to cure... will be posting pictures of the final thing tomorrow (was also waiting for the 4K Blu-ray to ship but it’s still in USPS hell, so 😒)

I’m so happy with it. I can’t wait to show it to you guys 😩

Late night blaster update:

Wanted to be thorough with the primer because I only have one shot to hit it with the actual paint .... but tomorrow’s the day.  Taped everything off tonight so that I can spray paint in sections: starting with the tan on the grip and trigger guard/cartridge mount and silver for the barrel + the cone... thing.  I just superglued my fingers together trying to get the toothpicks in place and hold them for long enough to set them ... but it actually turned out pretty perfect in size and looks roughly accurate. Some of them are definitely not straight, but I can twist it before I secure it in place to make sure that what’s visible looks the best. 

I can’t believe there’s only two real steps left: the paint and then assembling it. Detailing and aging the different parts (if necessary) is the last step, but ... it might be done by the end of the weekend, depending on how long the rain holds off for because I’m not about to spray paint in my basement.
