Every day I think about how Kokichi was the ultimate supreme leader and then they did basically nothing with it, like, it’s such a cool fucking talent and Kokichi definitely has the chess master skills, but we never see Kokichi really, do, any leading and it bums me the hell out! The only times he gets to lead is occasionally leading people by the nose in the trial and during his death. I want to see more of him using his talent! what does he do when he’s in charge?? How did he get this talent?! He has to be one of the best leaders in the world to get a talent like that and then he just, never, LEADS! It’s such a small detail but it pisses me off so much that the ULTIMATE LEADER never has anything to LEAD.
He got some cool moments at the start of the game of him standing up to kaede and arguing with her choices with the group and then she dies and kokichi’s entire potential counter leadership to the protagonist goes completely up in smoke as he spends the rest of the time isolating himself or pointing out why people are stupid or hypocritical. I so desperately wanted the part of Kokichi who goes “We are tired, we are getting nowhere, we need to stop this Kaede and try a differing path” to be a reoccurring plot point with him, just, let Kokichi be a LEADER, let him LEAD, give him a role of AUTHORITY in the group even if some people hate him. I will never shut up about how they made an ultimate leader and then went into basically no detail about his group or showed us really how he LEADS, like C’MON.
Honestly every day I think about how Kaede is such a better foil for Kokichi then Shuichi ever was, and honestly not even just Kokichi, Kaede was just a better foil, you thought this was a post about Kokichi but no this is actually a post about how Kaede was a better protagonist and foil to the antagonistic students then Shuichi ever was and that Kokichi was a better more deep character when interacting with her-
