@protectivehearts wanted a shippy angst starter
Christmas was meant to be fun, it was meant to be spent with people one cared for and yet outside of the team Andrei only had one person close enough to him that he could count towards that. He played on Christmas, making it hard to plan much of anything involving his own family. They stayed back in Germany, he'd see them when the off season came but it didn't make the holidays easy even with that knowledge. It's why he was looking froward to actually getting to spend it with her after the game. To go home and relax and somewhat be just them in whatever they were. What he hadn't expected after the win was for a certain someone to appear in the crowd and rush at him. She hadn't exactly given Andrei much of a choice in reaction time, him catching her and then occupied hands unable to do anything as she pulled him into a surprise kiss. All of him was confused and he promptly let her go soon after and put her a bit away to the side. A brief hello and a goodbye before turning to the locker room to text Austyn. Only he received no answer about their plans, nothing. An hour passed as he made his way home and still nothing, so he took his friends' offer up to go out and celebrate, once more running into that same familiar ex. And she was far too drunk to go anywhere towards the end of the night and so back to his apartment they went, her in his bed and he on the couch. The next morning he said his goodbyes and texted Austyn again. Nothing. For the next several days until one day a knock came on his door, his brow furrowing when he opened it and saw her standing there. "Oh, good to know you're alive." He grumbled. "Where did you even go?"
