Quietly sighing to himself, the artificial intelligence internally reprimanded himself for failing to remember just how well-trained the human special forces operatives were. He should have known that he would be detected relatively quickly. Examining the man as he approached, tiny jolts of light and electricity flowed through the circuits within Bias’s eyes, feeding information directly into his mechanical brain as to the meaning of all of the SPARTAN’s expressions, gestures, posture, any and all tiny little social cues that knowing about would benefit Bias’s stance in interacting with him.
Despite Bias’s young appearance, he was of a height with the SPARTAN. He had taken the form of the Manipular class of his creators, Forerunner Manipulars not having yet undergone any sort of mutations to help with their chosen careers and their appearance remaining very close to that of humans. It was useful as both a disguise and a diplomatic aid. Humans were infinitely more comfortable in the presence of something that was at least a little bit recognizable.
Meeting Six’s eyes with an expressionless face, Bias spoke in a lilting, almost singsong voice that matched the slight oddity of his appearance.
“Stalking is a word that holds deep negative connotations. I was neither partaking in predatory action nor the act of voyeurism. I was simply observing one of the supposed greatest supersoldiers of humanity.
Your expressed proficiency in repairs does interest me however. I was not aware that you possessed such a skill, or were willing or authorized to offer it as a service.”
Six dipped his head respectfully, internally beaming at the AI's probably unintended compliment. But when he brought up his skills, his joy distorted to an expression close to pain. "Uh... I've had quite a bit of time on my hands, since... My last few missions..." He shook it off, returning to his normal smile.
"And I'm certainly not authorized. But if you're interested, I can probably do what ya need to have done pretty fast, as long as it's not Covenant technology. I mean, I could try, but no promises on that one."
Shifting his weight awkwardly, he moved the topic back to the repairs. "I don't usually offer it like this, but hey, if you need something, speak up. I'm bored as it is."
