Peter Pevensie Confession:
Okay but something that has bugged me in the Narnia fandom for forever is how almost everyone labels Peter as the prideful hothead.
It’s like, yes, he does have tendencies to be over dramatic or brash but let’s not forget the fact that he is 30 something year old man forced to live in a world without magic as a teenager when he is the rightful king of a magical realm that he feels like he’s abandoned. He’s trying to protect his siblings and fit back into the ordinary and dangerous world of WWII London while trying to cope with his guilt and fear that he’ll never see Narnia again.
So when he finally returns and sees the state of decay and how the people, ‘His’ people, have been driven from their homes and hunted like wild beasts by the Telmarines, he’s understandably angry and feels responsible... He didn’t mean to leave them, but he did, and he feels the weight of it. Everything he does from that point on is, in his eyes, for the good of his people. Whether it gets him killed in the process or not. He wants to be the king he should have been, he’s trying to make up for the time that’s past. Bring back the golden era but it’s gone and the more he realizes that the more reckless he becomes. His heart has always been with Narnia and the only thing he truly wants is the safety and happiness of his family and his people no matter the cost.
